...if I don't tell my friend that her tattoo is spelt wrong?

Just that really!
A friend has posted a picture on Facebook of her new tattoo and there is a word spelt wrong! I won't say what for fear of outing, but it's got two extra letter in by accident Shock
No one has noticed that's posted on Facebook, and I've checked that it's not a prank (no google images of the same picture) so I think it's an honest mistake.
But... I can't see that me telling her would be helpful, I mean, it's permanent! There isn't a pretty way to fix it, and surely someone else will notice and tell her? Right?
I'm such a coward Confused

I think the critical bit is will she ever notice if you don't say?

Yes - tell her now so can get off Facebook, get money back at least

No - don't burst her bubble. If it was in Italian or Cantonese or something this would be a no brainer. In your novel example the same thing as little chance your friend would notice.

Isn't there a celeb with a misspelled tattoo? Tulisa or someone?

HazeltheMcWitch · 20/03/2014 18:21

I'd want to know.
Actually, I'd figure that someone would eventually tell me, so I'd rather be told kindly, not in public etc where everyone would laugh and I'd feel humiliated.
Plus the point about it's easier to amend it sooner rather than later.

HazeltheMcWitch · 20/03/2014 18:22

Could you think of a bit to add on the end, to say something like 'and it's imperfections that entrap the soul' ?

Deep, me.
And practical.

Nessalina · 20/03/2014 18:30

STOP PRESS

Someone's told her! In fact, someone has commented on the Facebook post!! Shock

CalamitouslyWrong · 20/03/2014 18:32

Were they mean, or tactful? Although how tactful can you be in a FB comment?

nicename · 20/03/2014 18:32

What on earth did Yuri (page 1) post a link to? My mobile said I had to send an email for a verification code to prove that I was over 18!!

Nessalina · 20/03/2014 18:34

They were pretty good! Sort of like 'love the the tattoo hun! Tho' not sure if it's a trick of the light, but have they put an extra ur in there?!'

NorbertDentressangle · 20/03/2014 18:37

This made me laugh, especially the "that's how it was when I found it on the internet"......yeah, because everything on the internet is correct and worth having tattooed on you isn't it?!

...if I don't tell my friend that her tattoo is spelt wrong?
NorbertDentressangle · 20/03/2014 18:38

OMG!

I'm waiting with baited breath to find out what her response will be

LiberalLibertine · 20/03/2014 18:50

Shiiiiiit, what can she say Confused apart from ffs!

LizLemonOut · 20/03/2014 18:53

I am Grin at "oi Mike, didn't know god had 6 fingers" Grin Grin

SadFreak · 20/03/2014 18:54

Aww poor girl. I am having a bit of a cringe in her behalf.
Tbh Last year on holiday I was shocked at the number of really shit tattoos I saw on people on the beach and around the pool. Images and quotes are personal taste so I don't mean shit in the respect it was not to my taste but the amount of uneven designs, crooked lopsided, badly spaced patterns etc.
I would be gutted getting a tattoo and ending up with something looking frankly crap.
I doubt I will ever get a tattoo because ivam a wimp when it comes to pain and because I am so damn fickle. I just know what ever I love today I will hate in x years time. I have come close though and researched tattooists extensively and was going to travel quite a distance to get it ....... but then bottled it. Grin

I feel really sorry for her. Has she reacted to the comment ir is she still staring at her tattoo in shock horror?

MaryWestmacott · 20/03/2014 18:56

I bet that person has been debating what to say all day!! (And hoping someone else said something...)

NorbertDentressangle · 20/03/2014 18:56

You could always direct her to this website as there are some far worse ones on there Grin

theborrower · 20/03/2014 18:57

OP - please keep us posted on her reaction! Can't wait to find out.

What will you say if she says "Did you notice too?"

antiabz · 20/03/2014 18:57

Write something to her and use that word in a sentence. Like 'I love that your tattoo says capture the stars' or whatever it is....

Bloodyteenagers · 20/03/2014 19:02

Friends should be honest with each other. Doesn't matter if its a tattoo, a dress or a haircut. They should have a quiet, tactful word and say the truth... I would hate for my mates to lie to my face and say something is great, when it isn't. I would be thinking what other times have they blatantly lied to my face.
But maybe this is just me and my expectations of my friends, and how we treat each other.

Oh bless her, can the extra 'r' be removed / altered?

CheesyBadger · 20/03/2014 19:06

Please tell her so she has a chance of getting it fixed!

monkeyfacegrace · 20/03/2014 19:07

Maybe the tattooist had a stammer?

GimmeDaBoobehz · 20/03/2014 19:15

I don't judge your friend for getting her tattoos.

I'd say it's her fault if she didn't proof read what she printed out for the tattooist to write on her but if it was the tattooists mistake I really feel sorry for her as it must be pretty horrible.

I would tell her because it will prevent further embarrassment/mocking.

Those who don't like tattoos I've got a suggestion DON'T GET A TATTOO. If you don't get one, it shouldn't bother you because it's not your body.

I'm not a big fan of tattoos but I don't judge those who have them.

I hope you/mutual friend have told her for her own sanity and so she can remove it from Facebook.

Straight after the post from other friend she responded with an 'Uh oh Shock'.
An hour later - nothing! I need to know! She must have checked by now!
I am hoping beyond hope that she's actually pranking all of us!
