To think this mother should not have been arrested?

Apologies if this has been posted before, but this story is just so heartbreaking. The baby is seemingly being adopted against her mother's wishes. Surely any mother would kidnap their own child to prevent this from happening?

Sorry overlooked where you said this was prescribed by your consultant! I can't see how anyone could possibly have a problem with this, but please do speak to your doctor again if you are worried.

During proceedings my epilepsy medication was bought up but the judge saw that as a necessary and that the risk was greater to the unborn child had I not have taken it (cos of risk of a seizure which could result in brain damage or losing the baby)

They may want to check the child is okay due to withdrawal and you atr coping but taking medication whilst pregnant under the guidance of doctors will not result in you having your child taken away

Bless you. I took cocodamol on prescription while pregnant and I was told that as long as I stopped taking it 48 hours before the birth the baby would be absolutely fine.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 18/03/2014 18:15

I had cocodamol prescribed for me during all pregnancies and your unlikely to have any issues providing your taking as its prescribed (so not taking more than your meant to) I was also told to stop taking it before delivery but I was told 3 days before planned induction.

Also unless something drastic has changed since I stopped working for the LA you will absolutely not have a problem from a child protection stance based solely on prescribed pain meds taken correctly and managed appropriatly

Get your doctor to write something confirming the advice you have been given. I don't think you have anything to worry about anyway, but that will leave you fireproof.

poster AurorasDownTheRabbitHole stop shit stirring, why would SS be keen to remove children, for what purpose. Its funny theres no sympathy when parents actions cause the abuse and sometimes death of THEIR children.

Social services do not want to take children from their parents for no good reason. It's too bloody expensive for a start (about £30k/year for a foster placement) and you find me a social worker who doesn't passionately believe in the majority of cases the best place for a child to be is with their parents. Social workers remove children as a last resort not a first choice. As with all bloody Daily Hate Mail stories there's biased reporting against social workers. I'm not one & I don't personally know any but I know the system they're working in and no manager who needs to balance their budget would ever sign off on a foster placement if they didn't really have to. And given that outcomes for children in care are very poor no social worker would condone subjecting a child to a life in care unless what they were removing the child from was really really shit. Look at that poor baby who was probably starved to death whose body became mummified. Some parents are not good parents and we have to take the professionals word for it that this mother's domestic violence situation was untenable.

I think we don't have to accept she was s shit parent unwilling to change. I think we need to accept that these changes couldn't be done within the child's time scale. Unfortunately even those of us who work really hard and do make positive steps sometimes fail to get our child back because the work necessary just plain takes too long to do. Not because we can't be bothered to but because our own issues need addressing so we can be good enough parents
