Why do you swear?

That's it. Why do you swear?

"Because I want to"s not allowed.

Oh, but the filter does come up when I meet someone new, until I hear them swear and then it flies out of the window.

BellsaRinging · 16/03/2014 21:23

because it's fucking cool.

hmc · 16/03/2014 21:24

Because it adds emphasis

ScarletLady02 · 16/03/2014 21:24

Brian Fucking Blessed IS the fucking bomb!

I'd love to go out on the piss with him

aquashiv · 16/03/2014 21:25

Pent up aggression controlled vented anger. There is nothing quite like a good feck obviously.

ouryve · 16/03/2014 21:27

Because, sometimes, life looks better when the air's turned blue.

CarrotIronfoundersson · 16/03/2014 21:29

I was a very good girl, growing up. Always toed the line, did as I was told, never got in trouble.

It's so freeing to swear now. I work in a school so obviously I don't do it all the time, but in the confines of the staffroom it can be quite a release Smile

Xenadog · 16/03/2014 21:29

I swear therefore I am.

nickelbabe · 16/03/2014 21:34

irl, because I'm angry, frustrated, stressed and angry.

on here because it's big and clever and allowed

Ev1lEdna · 16/03/2014 21:35

Habit, I'm trying to do it less but struggling with it if I'm honest.

BillyBanter · 16/03/2014 21:40

I enjoy it. I relish rolling a swear word out. I swear quite a lot.

I don't like other people swearing a lot though. When they do it it sounds uncouth.

tilliebob · 16/03/2014 21:44

Habit, stress relief - I don't smoke, do drugs and rarely drink, but I do have the vocabulary of a well educated sailor. Saying that, I don't swear freely, ie around my children, in church, or at work (as a teacher I doubt that would go down well). However I believe that several people are alive today only due to my ability to vent my spleen in this way.

And as for my kids, if I can get them to adulthood with only swearing as a vice, I'll be delighted!

fairnotfair · 16/03/2014 21:51

Big'n'clever

TheBody · 16/03/2014 21:51

love a good fuck me.

LittleprincessinGOLDrocks · 16/03/2014 21:56

Because "oopsy daisy" just does not sum up how much pain I feel when I stand on a Lego brick.

LovelyJubblies · 16/03/2014 21:58

I swear like a trooper. I always have and I always will. Sometimes its the quickest way to get my point across.
If others don't like it tough shit.

Bunbaker · 16/03/2014 22:06

"I find people who don't swear a bit suspicious"

I honestly don't feel comfortable swearing. None of my friends or family do. I can't at work and I won't at home. So it is natural for me not to swear most of the time. I occasionally let slip the odd word when driving, but I am only human.

annabelcaramel · 16/03/2014 22:10

Mostly due to many years working in the criminal courts I think. Becomes second nature in certain situations. I do seem to have a trip switch though and can switch it on and off. Certain situations I wouldn't dream of swearing, others just seems natural.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 16/03/2014 22:31

Temper (shame face, mostly mild swears in temper, but infront of DC)
Alcohol (more colorful language, but lighter tone)

Need to cut it out totally.

WilsonFrickett · 16/03/2014 22:43

Because I'm Scottish and big hard consonants sound ace in my accent. I'm not a lazy swearer though, when I swear it's because that's the absolutely the word I want to use.
And because I can.

DioneTheDiabolist · 16/03/2014 22:47

Because I like watching rugby and sometimes I just want the players from my team to: TAKE THE BASTARD DOWN AND STAMP ON HIS HEAD UNTIL HE LETS GO OF THE FUCKING BALL.Blush

I rarely swear and am not violent at all. Poor DS was Shock.

BolshierAyraStark · 16/03/2014 23:42

Basically because I can & I fucking love it, if someone is a cunt they are quite simply a cunt & I shall tell them so, & enjoy it.

Why do you ask?

RubyGoat · 17/03/2014 00:43

I don't, generally. Not even while I was in labour (according to DH). I used to get smacked if I said 'blast' or 'damn' as a kid, I think an actual expletive would have got me something worse!
