As your blood may have boiled up reading that title, why not donate some of it? - www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-26577766

I went last Tuesday. It was really busy - longer wait than usual. Always look forward to my post-donation bag of Seabrook crisps - never seen them anywhere else! Great post title :D

Bumpinthenight · 16/03/2014 07:41

Sulking because I wanted to see a picture!

Mine's booked for April! Have moved house. Hoping this area do clubs otherwise I will be moving back!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2014 07:49

Ha ha. Good post :)

Sadly Not allowed to donate anymore :( I did donate from
18 to 33 but then had a blood clot and won't accept my
Blood

Shame as loved helping and free crisps and cuppa helped Wink but also as blondes blood is semi rare so much needed

I think everyone who can should

DoYonisHangLow · 16/03/2014 07:49

Ha! I haven't donated since Dd was born, she's now just turned 2. Any idea if I can take her with me when I donate, I'm worried she'll run riot Hmm

Morrigu · 16/03/2014 07:53

I checked a couple of months ago as I haven't donated in years but apparently can't atm as I've had piercings done in the last year.

MarlenaGru · 16/03/2014 07:58

I hope to donate when this baby is born. Registered last year but wasn't allowed due to malaria tablets and then fell pregnant!

Paddie · 16/03/2014 08:04

Brilliant attention grabber.....sadly I can't give blood anymore, they don't want it because of the medication I take.....

AtYourCervix · 16/03/2014 08:07

Well done Grin

I'm due next month.

Eminybob · 16/03/2014 08:13

When I'm not pregnant any more I'm definitely going to start donating. Midwife told me have I have a very rare blood type (I never knew!) so it's in short supply.

ImAThrillseekerHoney · 16/03/2014 08:17

I tried but failed - not enough haemo goblins Sad. I have to eat lots of steak and spinach and come back in 3 months

RedFocus · 16/03/2014 08:18

They won't take my blood but my father is a regular donor Grin

longingforsomesleep · 16/03/2014 08:18

Used to donate regularly but after a transfusion in 1994 am no longer able to. I do wonder if the blood was good enough to give to me why they don't want some of it back!

Octopusinabunchofdaffodils · 16/03/2014 08:18

I used to donate all the time but now our local centre has an appointment only system. I have never been able to book a time when i am not working so I don't give blood at all now. Because of the nature of my job I wouldn't want to take time off. I tried booking 3 months in advance but they don't let you. Angry

Shockers · 16/03/2014 09:08

Brilliant... clicked on this furiously!

I've only managed to donate once as my iron count tends to be low. I'll keep trying though!

wowfudge · 16/03/2014 09:18

Ha ha OP. I am a regular donor and have been really pissed off with having an appointment time which is then completely ignored and having to wait for an hour to an hour an half. The actual donation takes 5 minutes. Plus there are insufficient evening donation sessions. It makes my O- blood boil.

wowfudge · 16/03/2014 09:19

Shockers - you should follow up with your GP if you've got low iron count. It's very easily treatable and you'll feel better for it.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 16/03/2014 09:22

They won't take mine, too small, but bumping.

Hotmad · 16/03/2014 09:27

Ok I want to donate I heard on radio the other day about low supply. I think I'm o neg, not 100% sure which is shocking as I had baby 3 months ago and sure I was told during pregnancy! Will they be able to check for me? I'm all good to donate I think, had normal delivery recently so I assume that's ok too

TwittyMcTwitterson · 16/03/2014 09:28

I was a regular donor but since DD I've only been able to donate once/maybe twice because they say 'you look so tired. It'll take you longer to recover if you are run down' so I waste a reasonably long drive as all others are when I'm at work and all the time waiting to be seen. I've given up pretty much but would still love to go Hmm

meditrina · 16/03/2014 09:29

Thanks, you've reminded me, I'm due again at the end of this month, so I must make an appointment.

TwittyMcTwitterson · 16/03/2014 09:30

Hot mad, pretty sure there's a time limit after birth but it's not too long. Yes they check blood group for you and you get a funky keyring saying what you are Grin

Mogz · 16/03/2014 09:31

Good baiting Grin I'm signed up for when the mobile blood bank is next in the area.

ImAThrillseekerHoney · 16/03/2014 10:10

I'm not actually low wow, it's just that I'm not quite at the level where I could happily spare a pint and still be fine IYSWIM. I'm literally a burger and a Tropicana away from the cut off.

ilovepowerhoop · 16/03/2014 10:19

The English website says 6 months post birth

The Scottish one says once one week has passed for every completed week of your pregnancy e.g. 40 weeks of pregnancy so 40 weeks post birth

PersonalClown · 16/03/2014 10:21

Currently have the lurgy so I will donate when I am all healthy again.
