to ask if any of you will be having your children vaccinated with bexsero (meningitis b vaccine)

At between £75 and £160 per dose I could not afford to have my children vaccinated and really hope it becomes available in the nhs or at least cheaper pravately. Young children need beteween 2-4 doses depending on their age.
I'm debating really pushing our budget or borrowing money to have it done.

are all GP offering it...I would get mine done its 120 privatly.

Another one that's had it done here. I've also given them the chicken pox vaccine (not personally obviously). It was £120 a shot dc1 needed 2, 2 months apart, dc2 the same but a third booster after a year as he's only 18m. So the cost is spread but it's still expensive and it's horrible to think children could die of this because their parents simply can't afford it.

Hadn't heard of it. It protects against all forms of bacterial meningitis or just one or?.....

True to form my GP has no idea about the vaccine at all let alone whether they offer it privatly.

I've just called my GP and they said as it was a new vaccine they didn't really know anything about it but would look into it - managed to stop myself from saying it had been available for 6 months!! Found them for £110 a shot at www.metromedical.co.uk/ just now - says they do evening and weekend appts too!

dont they read the papers, listen to the news?
