West End. The bar prices are horrific. I'm going by myself which makes ms feel strange anyway. I've just noticed a small empty water bottle. Would it be terrible to make a gin and tonic up and take it with me?

Cor, yes. I rely on sports bottles of vodka to get me through kids' films at the cinema, but go all posh with a tin of g&t for the theatre.

My mate once turned up to a teachers' trip to the cinema with an empty Lenor bottle which she proposed to fill with wine. She was worried we might get chucked out if caught with a wine bottle. It was patiently explained to her that four ladies stealthily passing round a bottle of fabric conditioner & taking covert swigs from it might also attract atention...

I do this with food at the cinema but never with booze at the theatre as I'd be too embarrassed if I got seen. So as I'm now thinking of doing this next month in the interval of King Lear, does anyone gave any tips to do it surreptitiously with not a soul seeing me?

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Plastic glass. Mini wine bottle. Pour wine in plastic glass. Looks just like everyone else's plastic glass...

Is it unhygienic to do it in the toilets ?

clippityclop · 04/03/2014 18:40

Why are you going alone, was this an unexpected turn of events?

MeepMeepVrooom · 04/03/2014 18:46

My ExSil used to take a 1/4 bottle of smirnoff on nights out. Pretty sure some of my family do this too. Do it, and enjoy Smile

ForalltheSaints · 04/03/2014 19:25

It would be bad though I can understand why you would do it. Hope the theatre is good.

Lighthousekeeping · 04/03/2014 19:27

Would you really enjoy tepid gin and half flat tonic?

Surely part of the pleasure of it is the ice and the lime and the clinking of the cubes.

Aw feck it. My no alcohol in the week rule is ruined yet again.......

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 04/03/2014 19:28

Ha ha ha ha at the Lenor bottle!!!

Lighthousekeeping · 04/03/2014 19:29

On the odd time I've taken my Mum to the pictures, I've brought a little bottle of wine in for her. I honestly have never thought twice about it.

starfishmummy · 04/03/2014 19:30

Last timenwe went to a matinee people seemed to have brought whole pic nic lunches with them. I know milk takes drinks and snacks because she wont pay for any. Wheras for me who doesnt get out much, having the interval rock hard ice cream is part of my treat!

starfishmummy · 04/03/2014 19:32

You crazy rock n roll rebel OP! Wine

thefirstmrsrochester · 04/03/2014 19:39

I sneaked wee bottles of wine into the ballet this Christmas. Bought a horrendously pricey round in the theatre bar though so they got their cash too.

Last Xmas works do was in a ridiculously priced hotel. Absolutely everyone sneaked in 1/4 bottles. Or full bottles in gift bags as mentioned up thread. It must have been as plain as day to to bar staff what was going on. Round after round of diet cokes and the room is paralytic Hmm

NotEnoughTime · 04/03/2014 20:52

What have you gone to see?

You lucky thing! I fancied seeing that-I could have gone with you if I had known Grin

Enjoy!

Primadonnagirl · 04/03/2014 21:08

Good on ya! If you want a drink have a drink. West End bars are terrible..overpriced usually understaffed, usually warm flat drinks etc. Agree it's difficult if you are on your own ..eg you won't have time to go to the loo and go to bar etc..Ignore those who say you are breaking the rules, have a drink problem..I very much doubt on your death bed that this will be one of your life's regrets

Blueandwhitelover · 04/03/2014 21:23

I am going to the theatre this week with thirty kids,WIBU to follow OP's example? only joking
