Just saved £42 by removing caller display and BT answer 1571 from our calling features online at BT.com. Sneaky b*stards ramping up their charges on the sly.

Vaguely remember email informing us but didn't think it would apply as we are only 6mths into a 18mth contract.... No apparently to get it for free we have to get a new 12mth contract (clearly hoping we will forget to cancel again.....)

You can remove it by logging into BT account online. Find calling features. Not too tricky but a little effort

Do check in a month or two to see if it's really been removed. Thye kept telling me it had been - but it seemed to 'stick'. (And the only way I got out of being charged for an old phone setup from about 30 years ago was to start a whole new contract! I wouldn't have minded if the phone was still in this house because judging by its age, it would likely have been worth ££ on ebay.)

there was a letter about this months back - to give you time to forget.

if you are on the line rental saver (and if you are with BT you should be) then that commits you for a year anyway. When you renew it, ask them to give you the caller display for free, which they will. Not the 1571, but just buy an answerphone for that.

I will set a reminder to check. Sneaky aren't they?

We are a couple of months into line saver.... Apparently that alone isn't a commitment/contract either.

They like to find excuses don't they!

i do not wish to deal with them again this was the end of a very long saga with them and i know i pay more with my current provider but they are better
