To expect my induction on Friday to be horrific

I was 7 days overdue with my 2nd baby on Sunday. My 1st baby was 12 days overdue, went into labour naturally, back to back, ventouse, traumatic delivery etc. etc. I went to the hospital today for a sweep but it could not be done as my cervix was posterior. I have polyhydramnias (too much fluid) with this pregnancy so baby has only just dropped head down into my pelvis after being breech throughout.

I have been talking into getting booked in for an induction on Friday at 12 days only. I am petrified as I have never known anyone who has had a good induction - all have tales of days in hospital, excruciating pain and often a c section anyway.

I am starting to think I should just kick up a fuss and try to just go straight for a c section even though it's not something I would want.

I had an epidural with my 1st baby and cannot image going though all the interventions I did without one so am really scared of having to have painful procedures without adequate pain relief. I even find vaginal exams excruciating when in labour.

Any advice? I cannot sleep due to this worry. I just want it all to be over now.

I was induced with dc1 at 34 weeks, and it wasn't too bad although I've got nothing to compare it with as dc2 ended up being a cs. TBH, I was expecting it to be worse than it was because head wasn't engaged etc.

Whole thing took 25 hours, I had gas and air but no epidural. The pushing stage was hard, 95 minutes, but I don't think that was anything to do with being induced.

Congratulations! The baby and toddler juggling can be bonkers, i survived it with the aid of a lot of caffeine. Grin

Glad the induction went ok. Hope you're doing alright with the sleepless nights and all.

Congratulations both! I hope the settling problems are short-lived.

If you need some help with feeding, the Analytical Armadillo is the best (helped me get my preemie out of SCBU ebf after 3 weeks).

I have been induced 3 times, twice because I was so overdue and once because the was a problem.

The first was like your first, long drawn out, back to back, painful traumatic.

The second was quick and low pain, and I didn't have any pain relief.
The third was like greased lightning - not in labour, mw broke my waters, baby born 1.5 hours later. It was very straightforward and only more painful because she was 10lbs 7oz.

Inductions don't have to be a nightmare, mine were fine.
