To never ever eat again because eating means pooing. :(

I'm prone to piles especially since dc2 and thought I had it under control. I've been going daily for days but maybe Anusol isn't working its magic anymore..

anyway, I think I have anal fissures. In fact I'm sure of it. Today I spent 30 mins trying to poo, and it was like childbirth. I didn't push anything out in the end because it felt like I was about to tear open. I was sweating like I was when I was in stage 2 labour with my children.

I've used a glycerol suppository, and an anusol suppository and used loads of anusol. It's been about 5 hours now and I still need to go but am too scared to sit on the toilet. I haven't eaten all day because it just means building up more shit.

What shall I do? I'm not a troll btw, just really in pain. Why the fuck do women have to go through this shit after childbirth? .

I probably have a mild rectocele and/or anal fissure - I know there are some issues around there, as some of your posts ring a bell. I've been on long-term Movicol for years now (prescribed due to chronic constipation after my first daughter was born) and if I don't take it, bowel movements can be very painful and often bloody. Because the Movicol seems to address the problem I haven't had it looked at in any detail, but this thread is really interesting - thanks (and sorry to hear of your problems OP)

OP - I had a fissure last year- and piles.

The fissure was the worst thing ever. However I did manage to get it to heal once I knew what to do. Lots of fruit. Lots of water. Brown rice and vegetables. Minimal alcohol and coffee.

Strangely the time I realised it had healed was when we were in a rented house in France. The toilet in my bathroom was very high up - so my position was totally different from at home. It seemed to put less pressure on - and combined with looser bowel movements gave it chance to heal finally.

I also had bad piles though - which haven't been painful, but there is something 'there'. Last December I had 3 large anal skin tags removed under a GA. These are, I believe, the leftovers from piles. Unfortunately I have more left which are due to be dealt with shortly.

It is awful having so much trouble with what we should be able to manage well.

I know nothing about rectoceles - so can't advise.

Try and make the diet changes - chug water at every opportunity - and if you think it is necessary try laxatives. But if you eat enough fruit - pears and apples are good for this - you should find things start moving easily - with less and less pain from the fissure.

So glad you've had some relief.

That compacted bit is going to hurt however long you leave it. Once through that you need to try all the recommended stuff to find what helps you.
Try just fruit and veg for a few days then breakfast on berries and live yoghurt. Plenty of fluids and fibre rich diet.

Those with rectoceles. I have one. Gp has confirmed. She referred me to gynae who very helpfully said "that is normal, everyone has to push their poo out via their vag" Hmm (a complaint is winging its way in that direction already). But... Everyone here says colorectal specialty, not gyn. Do you think i'd have more luck that way?

(I also have hms so am guessing the "theres nothing there" was to do with my superelastic bodily tissue, hiding the problem?)

Normacol sachets. available over the counter from pharmacist in boxes. take 1 or 2 a day with loads of water. takes a while to work but it will.

Glad you've managed OP.
Something else I forgot to say earlier that's worth mentioning.
On the recommendation of my (Dr) Fil - I bought a packet of wheat bran and used it like a medicine - 3 tbSp morning and again at night washed down with lots of water. You can mix it with some food if you wish as it is bleurghh.
Fil takes long term meds that affect his bowels and tried to find something more natural to relieve him and he swears eating the wheat bran neat rather than mixing it with food works much better (I've no idea of the medical explanation for this)
It works after a few days and keeps you loose.
I don't take any meds now regularly but when I must I go back to the wheat bran.
