I'm prone to piles especially since dc2 and thought I had it under control. I've been going daily for days but maybe Anusol isn't working its magic anymore..

anyway, I think I have anal fissures. In fact I'm sure of it. Today I spent 30 mins trying to poo, and it was like childbirth. I didn't push anything out in the end because it felt like I was about to tear open. I was sweating like I was when I was in stage 2 labour with my children.

I've used a glycerol suppository, and an anusol suppository and used loads of anusol. It's been about 5 hours now and I still need to go but am too scared to sit on the toilet. I haven't eaten all day because it just means building up more shit.

What shall I do? I'm not a troll btw, just really in pain. Why the fuck do women have to go through this shit after childbirth? .

I've had fissure problems in the past, it's a terrible pain.

For me lots of insoluble (?) fibre didn't help. I do have lots of veg, but stay away from all bread, pasta, rice, cake and biscuits and drink lots of water. Also having plenty of olive oil and butter helps lubricate I think.

When anusol didn't help anymore I started massaging vitamin e oil from H&B into the area to help it heal and used the Prep H wipes after each bowel movement, they contain teatree oil I think.

I do have to stick to this religiously to avoid problems though. Any bread, pasta or cake etc causes problems Hmm

foreverondiet · 23/02/2014 19:14

Go to pharmacy and buy movicol. You need to drink several packs - says on instruction for foecal impaction. Then poos should be soft. Go to gp I had a great cream for anal fissures although ended up seeing colorectal surgeon as cream GP me just gave splitting headaches.

diltiazem

foreverondiet · 23/02/2014 19:16

It was resogesic that gave me headaches but they will always try it before diltiazem as much cheaper Confused

livelablove · 23/02/2014 19:16

How about an icepack to numb the area, also some oral painkillers.

DVDplayer · 23/02/2014 19:18

Even if I put my feet on a stool, that sharp pain when it comes out wont go away. It feels like I'm pooing broken glass. :(.

I've just put in another suppository and will leave it longer this time. Hope it works.

Have you tried Anusol HC. The steroid factor really does give faster relief.

DVDplayer · 23/02/2014 19:25

Thanks again for these suggestions. Just want this pain to be over for today, then I can concentrate on not letting this happen again :(. The suppository is stinging the cuts now. :(

kazzawazza do you mean drinking the olive oil or rubbing it on the area? I might start drinking a table spoon a day from today I think.

persimmon · 23/02/2014 19:27

Don't hang on - it'll back up, dry out and you'll be in even more pain. Drink loads of water to keep it all soft, take Fybogel (?) or similar, eat lots of fruit and veg - and make a doctor's appointment.

DVDplayer · 23/02/2014 19:27

Aboyandabunny what's anusol HC? The doctor prescribed me anusol suppositories at my 6 week check up. I've only used it today for the first time.

Have tried helping it out PV (per vaginal)? If the rectal wall is weak it collapses in so the poo is effectively heading the wrong way IYSWIA. If you insert a finger you can help support the wall. All making a V with your fingers and supporting either side (externally) may help the some pressure off.

Dunwhingin · 23/02/2014 19:32

Fissure and piles you poor love!

from bitter experience I think that you also ought to add a rectocele to the list - this is an anal/lower bowel prolapse into the vagina. this irritates the bowel as it causes irritation and strictures, your description of avoiding certain foods because they irritate your gut sounds familiar... horribly.

I am just above recovered from a combi of these three plus the other two kinds of prolapse... absolute fucking hell and all kinds of pain
the anal issues are by far the most painful, debilitating and don't clear up by themselves

you need antibiotics, you need a referral to the gastro/entero teams and also the gynae team at your local hospital. you need a diet that helps, a gentle laxative regime plus hope that it is going to end.

YOU MUST DO THIS!

I am sorry to shout but as someone who ignored all of this for 4 years (how the fuck I did that I cannot believe now, but at the time the thought of telling anyone that I was incontinent & cried when I pooed... well..) I cannot leave anyone feeling the way that I did.

snice · 23/02/2014 19:32

You poor thing-I hope you get it sorted out. If it helps, the only thing that sorted my baby's terrible constipation out was prune juice(Holland &Barrett)

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 23/02/2014 19:36

Movicol. Magic stuff, and it can work on the impaction too, not just future pooage.

IloveJudgeJudy · 23/02/2014 19:40

Absolutely agree with taking Movicol. I have the same sort of problems as you, but not to the same degree, I don't think. Movicol makes the movements softer and much more manageable.

DVDplayer · 23/02/2014 19:42

bulldozers, can you explain that again? I do feel a big bump in my perenium when I'm pushing. Do I insert my fingers inside my vagina?

dunwhingin I'm sorry you went thought that. I think I have something similar.

I really thought I was doing well, using anusol afte every loo trip and then this week I got busy with half term and going out and this happens. :(

Pannacotta · 23/02/2014 19:42

Poor you.
Try supplements of Vit C and Magnesium to help get things moving, coconut oil is good too, either cook with it or just eat it raw a tbsp. a day is good.
And yy to seeing a female GP asap.

DVDplayer · 23/02/2014 19:44

I will go and buy movicol tomorrow if it helps the current poo go soft. No shops will be open now.

OP posts:
LoveBeingCantThinkOfAName · 23/02/2014 19:47

Could you have a prolapse as well? It means you would be trying to poo round a corner that's not meant to be there. Pressing under ether or even against the back wall of your vagina may help.

sheeplikessleep · 23/02/2014 19:50

Oh DVDplayer, I can sympathise so much and just started a thread in general health on this.
I can't work out if I have piles, rectocele or both or something else. I've been referred to the colo rectal team and a colonoscopy, just awaiting an appointment.
I struggle to poo, I feel constipated whilst going but I'm not.
Desperate for it to end. I do urge you to see a dr and get referrals. I'm really hoping my appointment comes through soon.

ReadyToPopAndFresh · 23/02/2014 19:51

DVD, they are doctors! Don't be embarrassed, they have seen so much worse. Unless there is a chance of them finding an old carrot you have forgotten up there you have nothing to be embarrassed about! It's just your body not working correctly, no different to a cold or and other illness. Please see a doctor.

DVDplayer · 23/02/2014 20:01

Now I'm getting really scared with these comments about prolapses and rectoceles. :(.

I don't want it to be anything serious. I don't have time to go to hospital appointments with small children. If its still hurting like this tomorrow then I'll go to the doctor. My GP is female, and she knows I have bouts of constipation and piles. It's just gathering up the courage to go and talk about my pooing habits though.

OP posts:
ReadyToPopAndFresh · 23/02/2014 20:04

DVD what about writing everything down and just handing it over? If you are really embarrassed. Or ask for a call back form your gp? That might make it easier for you to discuss and also you don't have to bring kids with you (I struggle to get to appts too).

She may not need to do a physical exam so at least you get the worst out of the way and it's on your file even if you do have to go in

Bulldozers · 23/02/2014 20:12

I think Dunwhing is right about the rectocele/prolapse. It's not a scary as it's sounds.

Basically the pelvic floor get weak and everything falls down loses it's position.

From what you say I think you could have a rectocele, the front all of the rectum falls in on to the vagianl wall and effectively into the viginal space. This might be why you feel it on your perineum.

So, yes, insert finger (thumb maybe easiest) in to vagina. If there's poo in the rectum, it'll feel hard. If you gentle push back and support this wall, you may find it easier to poo. Does that make sense? You're basically giving exta strength and helping to line things up a bit so the end of the poo is putting pressure on the sphincter instead of the perinuem.

Def get help but don't stress. Do your pelvic floor exercises too. The Hab it DVD is good too.

Good luck.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 23/02/2014 20:28

If you randomly happen to live near me, i have shitloads of movicol and can give you some?
