to think entering a debate means you should actually debate - even if you are a Royal

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/10654998/Princess-Royal-Villages-must-find-room-for-240000-new-homes.html

She's entered the debate about rural housing. Build in villages, not build new towns.

She might have a point. She might not.

But she's using her position to make a point with the luxury of not having to defend it, answer questions etc.

Some lobby groups have welcomed her intervention. But as usual, a Royal uses their position to make political points.

She wasn't entering a debate, she was speaking at a conference about housing she was invited to attend.

I agree with her. I live in a market town in which they are building thousands of new houses. Not houses that are suitable for families from the area. No. Mostly townhouses with no gardens that open straight onto the street as that is the way to get most housing in the smallest possible space and therefore most profit. One huge development with one or two more being planned for the next 5-10 years. Infrastructure and services (roads and schools mostly) can't cope already and the first estate isn't finished. Huge new estates make the most money for developers and land owners, they are not best for local people.
