Greedy to be paid 300k a week!!!!

I wouldn't say no to being paid that much! Apparently he and Coleen are very generous to charities.

Unfortunately it is the market price for footballers at present. I take some consolation that as I am not a football fan, not one penny of my hard earned money has gone towards his salary.

Secret they can afford to be very generous to charity. I expect there are lots of MN who regularly give to charity too.

thousands/millions of people pay to watch man united, same for any other sport. if rugby was a popular and players earnt as much would you begrudge them that? or curling?

Why is it greedy? If that's what he's paid then that's what he's worth. If you don't agree that's fine but that is what he's worth.

He has a talent which luckily is in a skill that pays well. Millions of people play football in the UK. They don't all earn 300k a week.

Quite frankly if someone wanted to pay me 300k a week for doing something that I have worked very hard at and made many sacrifices for I wouldn't say no.

I presume that they are generous to charity but so are many others! My gran does on a pension- that makes me proud of my gran seeing as she does worry bout where her next loaf of bread comes! Donating to charity while on 300k a week is hardly a drop in the ocean

Quite frankly I couldn't care less if he donates to charity of not. It's his money. He has a job which pays that much money and he shouldn't feel a drop of guilt. Donate to charity if you want to don't if you don't want to.

He won't earn that money for ever. Most footballers have a very small window of earning a lot of money.

But Man U is a business and they obviously believe they have made a profitable decision. In which case he is worth it (to them).

Maybe footballers do have a very small window of earning a lot of money, but when you factor in all the advertising endorsements as well as the personal appearances and after dinner speaking as well as the actual playing, they don't actually need a very big window :)

Personally I'll happily accept whatever a firm decides I'm worth and a whole lot more. I then have money I can do good with so why not?

The charity argument doesn't wash.

In the New Testament Jesus said the poor old widow who put two pennies into the collection pot was worth more in God's eyes than the rich, jewellery-clad Pharisee who put in hundreds.

True, Chottie, Gary Lineker is earning bucketloads through his advertisements, on top of the commentating etc that he does. And look how old he is.

It's the going rate. He's at the top of his profession. Is it wrong to say at least in the English premiership, it is going to an Englishman.

Well, Rooney and some others have a talent that people want to pay through the nose to view. With sponsorship, presumably people buy goods they endorse.

Without being ulta picky My gran does on a pension- that makes me proud of my gran seeing as she does worry bout where her next loaf of bread comes your nan had a life time to develop a sporting talent people might want to watch, or have a personality that people might look up to and pay to endorse. As it is, she's had a working life time to salt away money for her old age and it's a bit sad if she cant afford a loaf or bread (37p smart price) or her family cant be bothered to sub her one.

It's not your grans fault she is talentless any more than its Rooneys fault he pulls a crowd
