To think that P&C spaces in supermarket car parks

AIBU to think that where there is a pedestrian pavement down the middle of a supermarket car park, it would make far more sense to have the parent and child parking in a well lit area further away from the entrance. This would mean that the spaces would not get clogged up by drivers without children too lazy to find a space, and in some car parks could be in an area with less traffic.

Out of interest, those people who have NEVER seen all the disabled spaces full anywhere how much time have you spent searching for disabaled spaced?

Lambsie · 20/02/2014 15:20

There should be wider spaces at the back of the carpark that anyone who feels the need can use.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 15:20

Yeah, I have, everyday. Which can be difficult, but equally, she was also a newborn Wink

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:21

I live in Cornwall and I'm going home by way of my local supermarket to prove to you that disabled bays here are emptier at peak times than p&c.

I'll happily upload pictures.

So actually your going off one carpark not the whole of cornwall! ;)

gordyslovesheep · 20/02/2014 15:23

almost always full here - Tamworth - Asda, Sainsburys, Matalan, etc only the main shopping center has spaces because a whole multi story floor is dedicated to them

I can't believe people can't get kids out of normal spaces

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:24

Sirzy you have to drive past the disabled bays to get to the p&c. So every time.

But like I said; this thread IS NOT ABOUT DISABLED SPOTS!! It's about p&c! Are we not allowed to talk about p&c without someone wading in and going 'I'm so much worse off than you, try being disabled!' Er... This isn't an 'I'm worse off than you' contest.

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:24

sirzy think I can probably provide a more balanced viewpoint of life here than a holidaymaker.

IAmNotAPrincessIAmAKahleesi · 20/02/2014 15:27

When you say that you always see disabled spaces free where you live I believe you

Why then do you think those of us saying the disabled spaces are often full where we live are lying?

Is it really so difficult to grasp that even though it isn't your experience it is still true?

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:28

Someone said disabled spaces always lie empty.

So am addressing that.

Not saying anyone is worse than anyone.

Was waiting for someone to turn up and moan about people daring to mention disability

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:30

Cant believe anyone would go and take photos of empty disabled spaces to prove P and C spaces are more in demand.

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:31

No princess I said perhaps round me, they provide more disabled spots (demographic? I don't know) and people are going 'well near me they're always full'.

But like I say; this thread is about p&c. Not disabled bays, which I don't dispute need to be 'upped' in a lot of areas, because in my local Sainsburys, about 1/4 of the bays are disabled.

Sirzy · 20/02/2014 15:33

I was wondering the same Iamnot plenty of people have said they struggle to find a disbled space yet people are still trying to dispute it

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:33

fanjo well I kind of feel like people think I'm over exaggerating, I'm not. The proportion of disabled spaces here is huge. Maybe other places need to echo this! It certainly stops abuse of disabled spaces, ironically.

I just think there need to be a similar number of p&c.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:34

Maybe people in the first place should stick to discussing the P and C spaces and not moan about too many empty disabled ones.

Then people wouldn't feel need to mention being disabled. Its rich to then berate them for mentioning it.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 15:35

If we're playing that way, let me just clarify, my father has a blue badge for heart problems and an arthritic spine, my maternal grandparents have one because my grandfather has COPD and yes, there should be loads of spaces just for their use, as close to the shop as possible, even next to a bloody drive through window if that would help.

P&C spaces are not disabled spaces so unsure why you're flogging this dead horse.

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:35

No, when I said they were never full at peak times, I was met with disbelief, despite saying over and over that I think there are more disabled spaces in my area than other areas.

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 15:36

fanjo It was mentioned by way of contrast as in; lots of disabled bays, so clearly there's the space, why not more p&c spaces?

I know I'm not in the minority in rl.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:36

Was a horse ridden in by those moaning about toi many empty disabled spaces.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:37

Well it was mentioned. So people addressed it. Which is fair enough.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 15:37

In real life, disabled spaces are rarely, if ever full, and people actually like the convenience of P&C spaces Ziggie Wink

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:38

There is a lack of disabled spaces in many places. Turning them into P and C spaces would be a bad move. A relevant point.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 20/02/2014 15:39

In real life where YOU live they are not full.

They are here.

So your post is very condescending.
