To think that P&C spaces in supermarket car parks

Braganza · 20/02/2014 08:19

AIBU to think that where there is a pedestrian pavement down the middle of a supermarket car park, it would make far more sense to have the parent and child parking in a well lit area further away from the entrance. This would mean that the spaces would not get clogged up by drivers without children too lazy to find a space, and in some car parks could be in an area with less traffic.

blahblah you're so gangster. Rulez r 4 losers hun u park were u want. Lolz.

gordy sure! thanks for the description.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 17:51

I'd imagine smaller than a 12 as you've already been to the gym twice just in the space of this conversation.

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 17:51

Ziggie you're totes amaze Wink

blahblahblah2014 · 20/02/2014 17:54

ziggiestardust I may be gangster but i would never dream of damaging anyones car! Maybe i should always park in p&c spaces to avoid people denting my car who have kids - i have never needed anything special when my DS was younger and managed just fine...

gordyslovesheep · 20/02/2014 17:59

oh curious you have been very riled by my haven't you - sorry xxxx

I have not yet been to the gym - I said no to a glass of virtual wine before due to my going - as I am, to a class, in about 20 mins - I can give you full details if it matters so much - just PM me xxx

I do like my car - you are correct - as much as I like my ability to park it correctly an manage with my three kids to avoid damaging other peoples cars

feel free to carry on the little digs and pick over my every comment - at least until somebody more interesting comes along - it makes me feel warm and fuzzy xxxx

ziggiestardust · 20/02/2014 18:00

You're sounding like you're taking this a bit too seriously now gordy

It's just a forum. No one really minds when you go to the gym or what you do with your life, you know.

gordyslovesheep · 20/02/2014 18:01

That's good to know Ziggie

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 18:09

Um... Not riled in the least Wink

Generally finding it hilarious, actually.

Braganza · 20/02/2014 18:17

I'm sorry if the term ablist discrimination was taken literally. Meant it as a tongu in cheek way to question why a shortage of disabled parking led to a call to remove p&c spaces. It just seemed unnecessary; as far as I know there is no law linking the provision of one to the other. Moving p&c spaces would actually free up more spaces more suitable to those with mobility issues. The demand to cull p&c spaces, which many parents for whatever reason find beneficial, was poorly thought and illogical. Perhaps we could stop the handbags at dawn, and agree that more disabled priority spaces would be a good idea as well. Supermarket parking is not a zero sum game - you don't have to make life worse for one group to improve it for others; this was the discriminatory mesage some other posters seemed to be sending out.

Braganza, you're right and apologies for the thread hijack...

Definitely more of both would seem to make everyone happy.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 20/02/2014 18:19

You do sounds riled curious, possibly why some of your posts have been deleted. I hope I never park near youWink

SauvignonBlanche · 20/02/2014 18:25

I'm very embarrassed to come back to back to this thread and see that I have misquoted ClaudiusGalen, at 15:03 accusing her of spouting disabilist shite, when it was in fact curiousgeorge and has thankfully been deleted. Angry

Many apologies Claudius Flowers was rushing out with the DCs Blush

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 18:28

Sauvignon, you naughty girl Wink

kungfupannda · 20/02/2014 18:30

I think a lot of this argument would disappear if people would just learn to park. It seems to be a dying art.

In our nursery carpark, the spaces are far wider than most - you ought to be able to get your car into them by pointing yourself in their general direction, closing your eyes and accelerating - but I would estimate that 75% of the carpark users park across the lines, or diagonally, or sticking out across the entrance. It's bizarre.

And you see it all the time in supermarket/town centre carparks - people making a half-arsed attempt to get into a space and then giving up, or refusing to park next to a wall or a pillar, or getting in lopsided and then being completely incapable of straightening up.

They should make everyone sit a supermarket carpark test before getting their licence - with a common sense section, as well as a basic manoeuvring exercise.

If everyone positioned themselves in the middle of the parking space, everyone would be able to get in and out of their cars.

Maybe all new cars should have Bad Parking Sensors as well as ordinary Parking Sensors.

"Beep Beep This vehicle is reversing Beep Be.. What the bloody hell are you DOING? What is wrong with you? No NOOOOO. Not that way! Yes, that's better. Beep Beep. Oh FOR GOODNESS SAKE. Right. What's wrong with this picture? Can you actually open the door? No? Right, shall we try again then? Beep Beep Beep Well, that's useful, isn't it? You now appear to be wedged diagonally between a wall and a pillar. Maybe...oh never mind. Fine. Park there. See if I care."

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 18:52

Comic... Do you mean Colliers Wood?

(Haven't got a point to make, would just be coincidental Wink)

curiousgeorgie · 20/02/2014 18:54

Sauvignon - you certainty aren't as delicious as your name.

If you had read everything preceding you would see that I was responding to Claudius saying I shouldn't have children if I can't get them out of the car. My message was sarcastic and tongue in cheek and partly defensive, but stick with your gut and send her some love Wink

JapaneseFlower
I personally reckon whoever invented P&C parking spaces rues the day they ever invented the damn things.

Ridiculous! Where would sites such as MN be without parking spaces arguments?

SauvignonBlanche · 20/02/2014 18:57

Your post may have been deleted, Georgie, but sadly I remember how vile it was. I am, of course, unable to repeat it as it broke the Talk Guidelines by being offensive.

madame oh dear, frustration is never a reason to make a personal attack. Try to use your big girl words.
