To be completely freaked out that we've not had a winter

Seriously, I'm weirded out.

2 very light frosts the whole winter. Not cold enough to put the heating on hardly.

I don't remember a winter like this in 40 years.

Yes, the news stories are all about the terrible floods but I've heard nothing to explain why there's been no wintry weather.

Grin I think I am going to analyse that info properly when I get a chance. It still won't be very scientific as the reports are subjective but it will be interesting.
winklewoman · 21/02/2014 10:47

Not at all boring, Kitten. I found it very interesting to look back at years which I remember vividly whether for floods, snow or heat. I agree with those who are sad about no decent snow this year, as I have missed taking the DGCs sledging. On the other hand I do not want those already flooded to suffer further misery.

KnickersOnOnesHead · 21/02/2014 10:48

YABU. It snowed late MARCH last year! Tis only February, plenty of time!

WreckTangle · 21/02/2014 11:47

Yeah, I'm still waiting in it hitting. I'm in the Highlands, the past few years it's been terrible. Temps of -20 odds, snow up to my knees. This year it's been very mild with hardly any snow. The Cairngorms are covered but it's just not reached lower ground as much at all.

I'm sure we had snow last Easter so there's time for it to happen but I'm just dreaming of hot sunny days now.

TimeToPassGo · 21/02/2014 13:53

Because I took steps to be prepared this winter it never happened. You can all blame me Grin

spiderlight · 21/02/2014 14:02

No, it's my fault - I bought DS a new sledge for Christmas, new snowboots (which will be outgrown next year) AND lovely warm padded ski trousers in anticipation of lots of happy days sledging. I am sulking. I love crisp cold weather and we've had none this year at all.

xtremeraverbaby · 22/02/2014 10:26

im glad someone else feels the same! ive mentioned to oh several times about this he just doesnt seem bothered

Dillydollydaydream · 22/02/2014 10:31

It's a lovely spring like day today. Putting the washing out for the first time this year!

bruffin · 22/02/2014 10:40

Fourarms
Ds had hyperthermia in 2011, he took his clothes off, it's
called paradoxical undressing. He was out with his friends at a victorian fair. He was wearing just a short sleeve shirt in -8º when we met up with him

Catsize · 22/02/2014 10:49

It will snow in April. Or maybe June. Better had do, as I spent £40 on a snowsuit for DS

TunipTheUnconquerable · 22/02/2014 16:35

I've just turned the outside tap back on so there's probably a cold snap on the way.

weaselm4 · 22/02/2014 16:43

I agree with those who have said that this winter has been more like ones we had pre2009.

I was more freaked out by the very cold winters, when it seemed like the jet stream wasn't working properly. We have very mild weather for our latitude, and it's all because of the jet stream.

JupiterGentlefly · 22/02/2014 22:01

The weird thing is that the mornings are getting lighter now and it feels spring like. . But we hav missed a season?

Haggischucker · 22/02/2014 22:08

I've seen so many crocuses today in the East Midlands and had to turn heating off as sweltering! I also feel unsettled though about lack of snow and proper winter weather! Still time though :0

Pipbin · 22/02/2014 23:37

My garden is full of crocuses.
I did a couple of hours of gardening today and had a phone call while I was there. I sat in the sun to talk and it was like summer!

I'm still seeing loads of people wearing hats, gloves and scarves though, so may be it's just me that thinks it's warm.

5madthings · 22/02/2014 23:42

yanbu.

i want snow!

i am still hopeful tho, in the year ds4 was born we had snow around his birth, march bday. so maybe we will still get some, i want to go sledging.

wearingpurple · 22/02/2014 23:43

I don't like it. I haven't had to put my big long coat on once, and only had to put my scarf and woolly hat on a handful of times (I have inflexible temp-controlled conditions for doing all of these).

I feel weird and the dds are pissed off about the lack of snow.
