and moving out of the sodding way ??

Grabbing a loaf, milk etc ok, fair enough, but 5 bags worth, while the queues at the pumps get longer and longer.

It really really annoys me.

Really annoys me too, there are spaces u can pull into to free up the pump anyway, i don't know why people do it. Also irritates me when people pay and then sit in their car still at the pump for ages, just move!!! Lol

Bowlersarm · 18/02/2014 18:39

Some petrol stations encourage this though with the supermarket as part of the complex. Thanking of a rather nice m and s as part of my local petrol station. You wouldn't pay for petrol then shop, and then queue a second time, would you?

Crazdsky · 18/02/2014 18:44

Can't be helped where I live as the petrol station is also the village shop and no other shop for 10 miles and not always possible to move and park up as there are only 2 spaces. For us it's just a quirk of living here but during "tourist season" you can spot the non locals as they are hopping mad. I usually use the time to give the dashboard a quick clean or tidy up the glove box

Sirzy · 18/02/2014 18:47

Yanbu. They should move the car, pay for fuel (to free the pump) then do the shopping.

notanotherusername1 · 18/02/2014 19:02

We have a large Co Op connected to the petrol station and people do shop as well as fill their car and it causes a big headache. The car park spaces (roughly 5) are normally full with non petrol shoppers so there is no where for anyone else to pull over to. Very awkward for everyone. The staff are always being verbally abused because until the petrol is paid for they can't release the pump to someone else. The whole thing is a joke and I can't understand why it's allowed to continue. The shop is large so people do a large shop if they need to after fuelling.

I am at the point where I just go for fuel and shop another time. I can't be bothered with it otherwise. There is always a bad feeling in there.

Where are all these petrol stations with 'places to move to'? None round here. Confused

I do prefer Pay at the pump wherever possible.

People just have no patience.

PandaFeet · 18/02/2014 19:15

It is frustrating, but tbh, everyone gets to use the shop however they like within the law.

If they are buying petrol and groceries then they have technically "paid" for that space and the shop is doing well out of it.

You know that shops provide petrol as a way of increasing footfall, yes? Its not profitable enough to justify all the paperwork and regulation otherwise. The real money is made when they get you through the door.

WooWooOwl · 18/02/2014 19:29

It irritating, but you can't blame people for doing it when petrol stations encourage it.

Our one even has a little bar you can sit at while you eat your wild bean cafe sausage roll or your M&S sandwich.

Sparklingbrook · 18/02/2014 19:34

Ours has a Costa machine in it-and a microwave for heating up Ginster-esque goodies. Grin

MetellaEstMater · 18/02/2014 20:11

You can move the car without paying for the fuel, I thought? Just not leave the forecourt.

thedogwakesuptoodamnearly · 18/02/2014 20:35

Moving the car causes panic ....

pixiepotter · 18/02/2014 20:40

Well you should get there earlier and then you would be in front of them not behind themWink

zeezeek · 18/02/2014 20:54

YANBU. It irritates the hell out of me....both the shopping and the dawdling....I mean, how long does it really take to get in your car, start the engine and drive away?

I've been known to either use Pay and the Pump late at night or get DH to do fill up instead (he's more patient than me Grin)
