It's a 'Strategy' it is not 'Strategies'

After years of hearing this incredible misuse of the English language I now stand firm. We as parents do not use 'strategies' in the home to deal with dc (or anything else in fact). What we use are a series of actions (coherent or correct may be up for question, or not) within in the/a overarching strategy that we operate (coherent, correct or not, etc.). What we do not use, and neither do you, irrespective of your role as a professional or innocent bystander that you are or might or might not be is - flipping strategies! It's called 'A STRATEGY' if you have to give it a name!'

This reminded me of the lyrics (lyric?) from a Half Man Half Biscuit song :

Whatever happened to the plumber's van , the humble amateur Transit van?
Vans have become ridiculous with their strategies and logistics.

Sounds as though they might agree with you a little bit.

Strategies is totally legitimate to indicate more than one strategy.

I have several strategies for dealing with my lovely 4 year old:

-Simple no. Explain why saying no. Thank child for listening and obeying.

If that strategy fails:

-Humour. How ridiculous if we all did . Hahahaha, how preposterous that you'd do that, DD3.

If that strategy fails:

-DD3, I'm not arguing with you. I've told you what I want you to do. You have to decide whether you'll do as I ask or do your own thing.

Together, they are related but separate strategies.

'Strategies' is a perfectly cromulent word!

I agree - the OP sounds like a pompatus of syntax.
