To wait till Thursday?

Feel pretty bad. Forgot Ex Mil's birthday (yesterday)

I've not been well, DD hasn't been well. Have text her this morning apologising and suggesting we go visit her on Thursday to drop in her gift and card.

Got a reply saying "OK". OK is her code for fine but I'm not happy. I can understand she's a bit hacked off but it was a genuine mistake. I am working tomorrow and Wed and quite honestly still feel like shit today.

AIBU to wait until Thurs?

She's your ex-MIL. She can wait until you are all feeling well and have time.

yellowsnownoteatwillyou · 17/02/2014 11:14

If she's an adult who is in the huff about an exdil forgetting her birthday, don't think it would matter when you go round.

TinyTwoTears · 17/02/2014 11:14

No, it's not like you did it on purpose. Sometimes these things happen.

And if it is your mil surely your oh should have remembered?

FoxesRevenge · 17/02/2014 11:14

She's acting like a child. I really cannot be doing with people with such self importance who believe everyone should remember their birthdays.

TinyTwoTears · 17/02/2014 11:15

Oh I didn't see the ex bit.

YADefinitelyNBU then.

MrsMagnificent · 17/02/2014 11:42

Ok. Just thought for a minute I was being a bit mean by not wanting to go to day.

I could have gone but she would have probably ended up with her gift plus a side order of nasty virus.

YANBU. Just explain to her that you and your DD were ill and it wasn't intentional. If she doesn't understand then that's her problem. You are not being mean. Is your daughter's father not involved? Shouldn't he be reminding her about birthdays in his family and taking her round? It's not really your job.

MrsMagnificent · 17/02/2014 14:00

I did say in the message that we had both been unwell and it completely slipped my mind to drop gift off (haven't even bought it but she doesn't need to know that)

DD's father isn't involved with DD at all. He lives with his Mum and Dad now so we never go down to their house but he is working (at least i bloody well hope he still is) so we are going down while he is out.
