to think it is impossible to have a lighthearted thread on Mumsnet anymore, even if it has the dreaded *lighthearted* in the title?

Cos I can't think of one for yonks.

The only ones that people claim to "spray tea over their screen at" all turn out to be silly attention seekers who don't know how to check their autocorrect before posting, or pervy singletons posting to get their sad little kicks.

Please someone show me a good humoured and amusing thread from anywhere on the general boards in the last three months.

i once started a thread about fussy eaters.
was lovely.
No judging about "ooh you are the devil's spawn' etc

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2014 19:20

I don't think it's completely black & white though is it.

If someone starts a 'funny' thread that's harmless but just isn't to your taste then yes, it makes you an arse ache to come on and tell everyone that you don't find it funny. I think it means you place far too much importance in your own opinion.

But, if someone starts a 'funny' thread that you think is hurtful or nasty I think it's ok to say so isn't it? I mean certainly not barge in and insult every single poster's intelligence, that's always a shitty thing to do, but to give your opinion and your reasons for it, I think that's ok.

I'd certainly want to know if I'd upset someone. I might not change my mind about it but I wouldn't think any less of someone who didn't agree with me.

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2014 19:22

Oh, we've moved on, ignore me. The slow of typing will never succeed in life Sad

shakethetree · 16/02/2014 19:22

Spot on Randall. I'd say most people would agree with that.

SauceForTheGander · 16/02/2014 19:38

Cocksucking arses I posted on the Peter ruded - I can never spot a troll. I hate myself.

Lighthearted though - what a load of crap - it may as well be entitled "can all of the scary outspoken mumsnetters keep away". It's a hop skip and a jump to hun, tickers and bubbas.

Babyheave was hilarious today talking to Bonsoir. I rarely snort with laughter but I did today.

DrNick · 16/02/2014 19:45

link - i cant find

Pagwatch · 16/02/2014 19:47

Nah, I agree with that Randall. Totally.

But some of those complaint on grounds of taste can teeter right on the edge of insufferable sometimes. There is a real joy in their offence taking that feels -sometimes- less than sincere.

SauceForTheGander · 16/02/2014 19:48

Me Dr Nick?

I'm on my phone and cack handed - will try but could be gone hours ...

Pagwatch · 16/02/2014 19:50

this is Peter ruded Dr Nick

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2014 19:50

Oh there is definitely a certain breed of Joy Sapper that just delights in being offended. Interestingly they are usually offended on someone else's behalf too!

SauceForTheGander · 16/02/2014 19:51

It's a serious thread but babyheave made me laugh

here

Well, I've had my phone a year and starting to get the hang of copy and paste Grin

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2014 19:53

I thought that had been deleted. Really did not tweak my laugh muscle.

DrNick · 16/02/2014 19:53

she was right though, wsnt she
wrt authority

Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2014 19:54

I linked ruded peter for MardyBra up thread she started reading but hasn't returned-I am fearful she has exploded with mirth.

Pagwatch · 16/02/2014 19:54

Grin yes - vicarious offence.

My thing is -
If you use 'retard' I'm going to blow flames up your arse for all eternity because it upsets me.
If you talk about why someone might behave in a certain way in public I might try and explain that it could be SN.
But if you joke about bizarre behaviour in public I will laugh too. Because not everything is an insult. Life is sometimes gloriously batty.

Pagwatch · 16/02/2014 19:55

Oh dear God. Mardy might be stitching her sides back together!

It's all very worrying

Could a mner go and check on her?

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2014 20:03

Fair fucks Pag, can't argue with that anolagy.
There's just some things that press your buttons aren't there.

There's loads of threads on here that I could very well be the butt of and I'll find them just as funny as everyone else. But every now and then there's one that just makes you feel like a bag 'o shite. Such is life.

Who was right wrt to authority? On the rude Peter thread?

Pagwatch · 16/02/2014 20:05

No idea Randall my love.

But I'm nicking 'fair fucks' for sure

Grin
Sparklingbrook · 16/02/2014 20:05

I am just getting in my car to drive to Mardy's to check on her. I don't know where she lives, but it will be fine. I will stop and ask someone....

RandallFloyd · 16/02/2014 20:08

Oh, I cannot move for worms!

I went out for drinks last night (a very rare occurrence) with some friends who live away and some of their other friends who I know but not particularly well. It was a lovely night.

In one pub I ended up sitting next to someone who wanted to talk about the floods and the pros/cons of sandbags.

SauceForTheGander · 16/02/2014 21:55

keyboards of doom Smile
