Regular under namechange as I am hoping to use this thread as a weapon. Wink

If you are saying that you find someone attractive, despite the fact that they have a face like a busted bag of spanners, do you say "I see past your looks" or "I see passed your looks"?

I will tell you which one I think is right when you tell me what you all think. Wink Flowers

What the actual fuck with which.

I've been sagely nodding along with you on FB FuckOffChunk but didn't wish to butt in to your row Grin but you've perked me up, so at very much for that.

Not saying who I is on here though as n/c for ex cunt stalking reasons.

FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:25

Well, me too, Shiver. No accounting for loons though, is there?

OP posts:
FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:25

OH PLEASE BUTT IN, ANONYMOUSY! The person that I am rowing with thinks that the fact the no-one is saying that I am right is proof that I am wrong. Grin

winklewoman · 13/02/2014 13:26

That's a bit fattist, FOC, isn't it? Will the wrath of MN descend?

Anonymousy · 13/02/2014 13:27

FFS. TA. Ta very much. Not at.

Oh, and it's PAST.

FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:28

But I am chubby so I can say it.

I got it, Anony. Wink

OP posts:
Calloh · 13/02/2014 13:29

Past

But is someone actually saying this to or about a real, live person?

If so their poor grammar is the least of their problems.

Anonymousy · 13/02/2014 13:30

Well, they'll not be able to resist looking at this thread... I really really am trying to keep a VERY low profile as all sorts of grief from cuntish ex ATM, otherwise I'd be jumping right in. As you were.

FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:30

It's all being said very much in jest, Calloh. But even in jest I can't let poor grammar unchallenged. Gin

FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:31

GO UNCHALLENGED.

Hoist by my own petard, there.

OP posts:
Calloh · 13/02/2014 13:32

Quite right, standards should not be allowed to slip further. Fight the good fight FOC. Good luck.

FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:32

Ahhh, I think I know who you are, Anony. I won't say owt and I hope you're OK. If you need me to kick any heads in...

OP posts:
cerealqueen · 13/02/2014 13:32

You could say, 'the pretty wand passed you by', as I was...

Or 'I can see past your looks'

Dying to know context?!

Calloh · 13/02/2014 13:33

Oh no - hoisted?

Grin
FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:36

No, it's definitely hoist! Shock

The context was pretty much as I said in the OP but I will C&P; I said I didn't know why this other person was single (sarcastically) and he said, " I thought it was abundantly clear. A mixture of my face and my personality. I know you see passed all that though, because you love me."

WRONG.

OP posts:
Anonymousy · 13/02/2014 13:36

I'd give up with those typos FOC. If one is going to be pedantic, one must proofread... Grin

And, yeah, if you put your biggest, hardest boots on. Ta.

Thumbwitch · 13/02/2014 13:37

Of COURSE you're right - and 'past' in this context is being used as a preposition. Passed could never be correct because it is the past tense of "to pass", not a preposition.

Oh good lord, what the hell is that link and why?

It doesn't explain anything!

If you are going to act all stalkerish then please explain why properly.

FuckOffChunk · 13/02/2014 13:40

I know, Anony. :( Posting from a 'phone/Kindle is the downfall of many a pedant. Isn't it, Chaos?!

OP posts:
Anonymousy · 13/02/2014 13:43

I believe Chaos knows this too well!

But I don’t want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, or you wouldn’t have come here.”

Anonymousy · 13/02/2014 14:26

Eh?

MorrisZapp · 13/02/2014 14:28

Yes but what about dreamed and dreamt?

Anonymousy · 13/02/2014 14:29

Or, for that matter, learned and learnt? Hmm.

SPsMrLoverManSHABBA · 13/02/2014 14:30
