To be appalled by Top Gear 02/02/14

I am watching with my head in my hands and with a sick feeling. The 'team' are driving around a closed supermarket in small hot hatchbacks . The idea is for them to go round as quickly as possible

The amount of food that is wantonly destroyed is just sickening. There are families who have no food to eat today because of a variety of reasons and these idiots are finding it hilarious to drive over perfectly edible food for fun.

Surely there must be a better way to spend our TV license money than pay these old men and the programme makers who dream up this stuff.

Top gear is made by cunts for cunts.

Great. I wake up to find that my children are c**ts. Nice.

I should hope it does make a lot of money for Clarkson. He is great. My DS wrote to him and got a reply which is more than a lot of celebs do. Yes you-Jamie Oliver. Angry

TheDoctorsNewKidneys · 03/02/2014 06:46

I love Top Gear.

All these people who hate it sure love to moan about it and give it even more publicity. It's like the Top Gear complaint template that went around - one of the quotes was something like "I will carry on watching next week to make sure something so awful doesn't happen again."

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 06:50

I think we have found the true meaning of 'PO' on this thread.

I agree Doctors. People must watch waiting to be appalled.

jojoanna · 03/02/2014 06:52

I don't like so switch it off. My dd met clarkson when she waitressing at an event. She had to ask him to move as he was in front of a fire escape . He said don't you know who I am ? But he was joking and quite charming .

Still think he's overpaid

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 06:53

I save my wrath for 'overpaid' for footballers and crap actors. Grin

TheDoctorsNewKidneys · 03/02/2014 07:01

Ah, I found it. Delete options as appropriate:

"Dear BBC;

I was apalled/outraged/disgusted/aroused by ther ecent Top Gear in programme in which Jeremy Clarkson/Richard Hammond/that other lady quite blatantly drove/spoke/had a hairstyle like an absolute idiot/maniac/stunner.

This is an appalling/outrageous/disgusting/erotic example to be setting young people/old people/farm animals/my friend Alan.

I will be making a point of sitting through every hour of every future episode of this appalling/outrageous/disgusting/strangely sexual programme that I claim to dislike in order to ensure that this sort of appalling/outrageous/disgusting/steamy behaviour does not occur again.

If this disgraceful man/child/lady doesn't clean up their act, I'll be forced to write a stiff letter of complaint to the Daily Mail/Daily Mail/Daily Mail."

jojoanna · 03/02/2014 07:02

True but then I'm not contributing to footballers or actors salary unless I voluntary go and watch them

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 07:03

Except maybe the cast of Eastenders jojo. Shock Grin

jojoanna · 03/02/2014 07:05

On yeah ! Grin

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 07:07

Also people like Nick Grimshaw. I have to endure him on Radio 1 on the school run. Angry

jojoanna · 03/02/2014 07:11

Shudder can't see the appeal of nick grimshaw.

Gileswithachainsaw · 03/02/2014 07:18

The whole thing is about cars that cost more than your house and running over food is the issue? Confused

Flangeofmingetown · 03/02/2014 07:19

One of the most hilarious programmes on T.V.

I would love to do some of the stuff they get up to.

Honestly- too much pearl clutching and bosom hoicking from some on here.

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 07:25

Anything we can sit and watch as a family and have a laugh is ok by me. DS1 (14) actually comes down to watch with us. Smile

Also we had a fab time here Grin

HoratiaDrelincourt · 03/02/2014 07:28

Love the template letter.

I thought this thread was going to be about the casual homophobia yet again which is actually, you know, offensive.

But a bit of driving round the Trollied set hoiked my considerable bosom not one millimetre.

threebats · 03/02/2014 07:29

Agree with sparkling Anything that gets my dc's sitting with us in the living room watching and laughing is okay by us - Top Gear is a bit of a cult thing. People hate it or love it.
We love it Smile

You abu for posting a tv question in aibu rather than in telly addicts!

Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 07:33

It's always Sky plussed too so we will be watching again later. Grin

Bearfrills · 03/02/2014 07:36

Sparklingbrook how very dare you have Sky when there are people who can't afford Sky. You sicken me.

Wink
Sparklingbrook · 03/02/2014 07:38

Oh Bear you are right. Blush I am a terrible wasteful person.

Your right professor

It's very revealing. And whatever you think of the other two rest assured actually they were nothing but concerened and were there for him.

arselikekylie · 03/02/2014 07:51

YABU

I don't like Doctor Who or Strictly Come Dancing but I don't go round moaning about the money wasted on set design/sequins/Bruce Forsyth. I accept lots of people love these shows and that's great.

arselikekylie · 03/02/2014 07:52

Love the letter Doctors

hellokittymania · 03/02/2014 07:54

YANBU, although the top gear Vietnam was brilliant. I am biased since I live here. When I went to the UK a lot of people brought up that episode.

In general though, I think top gear (and plenty more) is rubbish.

I

hootloop · 03/02/2014 07:58

OP, you and most of Mumsnet it appears, would be appalled at me and DH then because we watch Top Gear laughing and saying we'd love to try that.

Obviously that could never happen because pretty much every bit of it is set up and not real.
