What way you hang your jeans and pants out on washing line

I always hung them from the legs, the way my mother told me

My friend always hands by the waist, she reckons they dry quicker as the wind is caught and blows down the legs,

So I tried it out there and sure enough, dd tracksuit legs now hung by the waist are billowing like a sail whereas my jeans are hanging by the legs and are flapping in the wind,

Obviously jeans will take longer anyway so not a conclusive test,

So off to mumsnet panel to tell me what is the correct easy to hang washing out,

Jeans are turned inside out and then pegged at the waist.

This is the best way.

PiggyPlumPie · 02/02/2014 15:47

My DM taught me to hang everything by the waist. Smile

Witch way you may be on to something there

I am not super odd!

Salmotrutta · 02/02/2014 16:04

I might start a thread about whether it's unreasonable to hang pants up by the gusset.

What's the worst that could happen...

UsedToBeNDP · 02/02/2014 16:04

Jeans by the ankles/bottom of the legs

Pants, errrr, just pegged on (single layer) by whichever bit of fabric comes to hand first.

witchway you have me interested in the Rotaire Dryline..... Wondering if it is any good too? Perhaps a new thread on this is required not sure it is appropriate for AIBU I may ask the question elsewhere?

WitchWay · 02/02/2014 17:14

Yes post it elsewhere if you like heatseeker. I don't know anyone with one but want a bit more info before I fork out £50

KeatsiePie · 02/02/2014 18:13

I'm jealous that it's warm enough for you all to hang out laundry. I think mine would freeze, it is negative 12 C here.

I fold jeans over the line and pin them about 6-8 inches down from the waist. That way both ends flap.

heatseeker · 02/02/2014 18:22

Yes £50 does seem a bit steep for a washing line tent DH gave me Hmm when I told him how much it was!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 03/02/2014 15:16

the hoisty line is about 10 -12 foot high, I hang a duvet cover from its edge straight down and its about 4 ft from the ground still. tis great.

MrsHappyBee · 03/02/2014 15:22

Tops by bottom and bottoms by top here.
Surely pegging pants by the gusset will result in a moist gusset as it's the thickest part and the peg will impede drying? One peg in the side does the trick.
