I am a women a grown up women

I have never got to grip with my cycle and I'm always taken by surprise and usually have a small pant accident every single month

Do other people have this or I'm I just weird by not knowing my cycle?

BigMonstersSmashCities · 01/02/2014 22:34

Me too. I think it's unrealistic to be expected to remember things that happened four whole weeks previously.

nickelbabe · 01/02/2014 22:34

I know my cycle and I get caught out every month too

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 01/02/2014 22:34

No mine regularly surprises me, I think it is because I often have a 25-26 day cycle and it always seems to c

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 01/02/2014 22:35

C

Noyoucantwatchpeppapig · 01/02/2014 22:36

Come round really quick. Except for at the moment as we're TTC.
Apologies for the multiple posts, phone went a bit nuts

MrsCosmopilite · 01/02/2014 22:37

I get caught out. Occasionally I have a regular cycle, but more often than not I don't. Only out by a few days, but often enough to catch me off guard. However, I always carry bits and bobs with me, so pant accidents are rare, and I can be useful in a 'suddenly come on' emergency!

Terrortree · 01/02/2014 22:37

Yup. Then it last anything between a day or six. It has a mind of its own.

PMT, on the other hand, is as regular as clockwork.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 01/02/2014 22:38

Do you record it? Or do you completely wing it?

I mean, it's your choice. I think I'd be recording and working out rough dates at least if it was me, though. Accidents sound like a pain.

Beehatch · 01/02/2014 22:39

It has got easier to spot as I have got older. I now recognise the slightly sore boobs and the night when I feel hot and restless as a cue to dig out the mooncup. It is generally less than a day before I'm proved right.

Frequent soiling as a youngster though, and on one shameful occasion some spotted hotel sheets Blush

BIWI · 01/02/2014 22:39

How many women are you? I'm not surprised you're taken by surprise.

ChilliJo · 01/02/2014 22:40

In the last 2 years mine has arrived anytime between 19 and 60 days. It's always been like this, I just track it with a snazzy app these days. I envy you lot with your regular cycles that you don't appreciate

pointythings · 01/02/2014 22:41

I haven't had this, but my body sends out reliable signals in the form of killer fucking headaches the two days before. I'd rather have the minor accidents, to be honest...

kingbeat23 · 01/02/2014 22:41

Grin BIWI!

BertieBottsJustGotMarried · 01/02/2014 22:42

I only know mine because I'm on the pill, although often I forget whether it's supposed to start on Wednesday or Thursday.

Luckily I always get quite a lot of discharge so use pantyliners most of the time anyway.

I used to record it when I wasn't on the pill. My mum always taught me to. I don't look at the calendar often enough to think "Oh it's been nearly 4 weeks, better get prepared!" though.

pointythings · 01/02/2014 22:42

And I'm still regular as clockwork with a 26 day cycle and ovulating 2 times in 3 (painfully) at the age of 46. Dear body, I don't want any more fricking babies, can we turn the off switch now?

MrsBungle · 01/02/2014 22:43

I'm always taken by surprise. I never have a clue when my next period is due. I'm dieting and was gutted my weight had stayed the same this week. My friend suggested my period was coming and I said I don't think so I'm sure it was only about 2 weeks ago - it arrived the next day. Maybe I should record it or something although I'm not that arsed really, I always have something in my bag for when it comes.

JasonOgg · 01/02/2014 22:45

Ohhh the headaches! Pointythings, I get these too! I have to have prescription painkillers as the usual stuff doesn't even tough the sides.

pointythings · 01/02/2014 22:47

Jason so glad it isn't just me... Ditto on the prescription painkillers, they are murderous headaches. I do find having an extra cup of strong filter coffee in the afternoon seems to prolong the effectiveness of the painkillers.

The cramps and stuff are nothing in comparison.

BuzzardBird · 01/02/2014 22:48

Do you not possess a calendar for gods sake?

goldenlula · 01/02/2014 22:56

My cycle is anything between 28 and 42 days, so it always takes me by surprise!

RoseRedder · 01/02/2014 22:58

yes I have several calenders but know of them say 'periods coming'

OP posts:
RoseRedder · 01/02/2014 22:58

none of them

OP posts:
BIWI · 01/02/2014 23:01

Thank fuck for that. None of us would want more than one at a time.

DoJo · 01/02/2014 23:02

I was really embarrassed when I was asked by a nurse if I could be pregnant and had to hum and haw about whether I had missed a period. Then when it turned out I was and she asked me the date of my LMP I was all confused and had to ring in after I had checked my calendar because I remembered having to take tampons to a gig I went to but couldn't remember the date.
Then my son turned up bang on his due date and I secretly congratulated myself for basically guessing a date which coincidentally turned out to be right!

mineofuselessinformation · 01/02/2014 23:07

If you have a phone with apps, get one that predicts when you're due a period (the only downside if this is you have to remember to use it!) I had one (since had a hysterectomy) and it was very useful for being aware of my PMT! Smile
