I used a folded towel under the top end of the mattress. I don't know if it is advisable for any particular reason but it worked!

HeadfirstThroughTheTimeVortex · 01/02/2014 17:10

*if it is not advisable

DioneTheDiabolist · 01/02/2014 17:10

My SIL used books under the legs of the cot.

mazzi2fly · 01/02/2014 17:11

We wedged the feet of the cot up with thick books when DD had a bad cough. ( I meant just the head end of the cot)

Oldraver · 01/02/2014 17:11

I used two Argos books under the legs at one end.

IrrelevantSquirrel · 01/02/2014 17:12

I used rolled up towels under the mattress, sounds like a cheaper option.

Perspective21 · 01/02/2014 17:12

A pillow under the mattress so no risk but elevates the end a bit.

youmakemydreams · 01/02/2014 17:13

Yep ds1 had reflux. Was advised to prop up cot with books or rolled up towels or blankets under the mattress.

NearTheWindmill · 01/02/2014 17:13

Bricks under the cot legs. And DS crawled to the bottom and slept with his legs raised!!

DragonMamma · 01/02/2014 17:14

I did the catalogues under the bottom end too.

I did buy a side sleeper foam positioner which was a godsend and did 4 kids in the end (not all mine!)

TheThinksYouCanThink · 01/02/2014 17:16

I use a pillow under the mattress to elevate the head end then a rolled up blanket under her legs to prevent her sliding down.

Books under the coat and a rolled up towel put under the sheet to keep dd on her side more hth

TheSumofUs · 01/02/2014 17:18

We bought the wedge - it was for using inside the cot to keep ds on his side - at the same time you elevate the head of the cot using a book or two under the feet of the cot - two separate things (although you could use the wedge under the mattress head, we did not)

A few things:

  1. Only raise the cot head slightly otherwise ds would slip down and slump at the bottom of the bed
  1. Tightly rolls towels worked better to keep him slightly on his side rather than flat on back - also ensured any vomit went on bed and not stayed in his throat
  1. Swaddling also helped so once we placed him in cot slightly resting on rolled up towels he stayed that way
TheWildOnes · 01/02/2014 18:26

We did the pillow underneath mattress thing.

NewtRipley · 01/02/2014 18:51

I also propped the legs of the cot. I also used rolled towels to keep DS2 on his side

If you wanted to go the foam wedge route, I'm pretty sure you could get a piece of foam for a lot less that that

chickabilla · 01/02/2014 18:55

Rolled up towel under mattress here too.

AlwaysDancing1234 · 01/02/2014 19:36

When DS had gastro problems a few years back our paediatrician recommended a copy of the recent hefty Harry Potter book under the top two legs of the cot to raise it up a few inches, did the job perfectly.

TheSumofUs · 01/02/2014 19:42

We bought our foam wedge off eBay for 2 pounds - postage cost more

Ended up being useless anyway - towels more effective for us

nevergoogle · 01/02/2014 19:44

Anatomy textbooks under the cot feet.

Wuxiapian · 01/02/2014 20:11

When DS had bronchiolitis and needed to sleep slightly raised, we folded up a large blanket and placed under head side of mattress.
