To make DH get the train home? He's just spilt coffee all over my new white top

HomeIsWhereTheHeartIs · 01/02/2014 13:22

Coffee stain all over the front of my white top. It's also all over my boots, and it's soaked through my jeans. I'm soaking and covered in cold coffee. The hand dryers in the toilets haven't really helped. Were in a shopping centre 20 miles from home. Should I just leave him and drive back with DS on my own?
Didn't even want him to come in the first place.

Make dh drive you home. If he wants to do more shopping, he can just drive back again.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 01/02/2014 13:24

Make him buy you a new outfit.

Joysmum · 01/02/2014 13:32

You blame him for an accident and didn't want to be with him in the first place, poor bloke.

pinkyredrose · 01/02/2014 13:34

Is there a backstory because you sound disproportionately pissed off about an accident.

ilovesooty · 01/02/2014 13:37

Sounds like a bit of an overreaction to me.

Fairenuff · 01/02/2014 13:41

Did he fling coffee at you on purpose? If not, then yabu. Be grateful that you are at least near shops, buy yourself a new outfit and calm down.

DoJo · 01/02/2014 13:42

Was he being really stupid with the coffee, or could it have happened to anyone? Sounds like you are really annoyed, but try to keep in mind that he will (should?!) be feeling bad enough about it, so try not to make him feel worse...

HomeIsWhereTheHeartIs · 01/02/2014 14:17

Well it seemed like he was being a bit careless. Then when it happened he sprang up, leaving me stuck in the middle of the restaurant with DS, and came back with a napkin. Wasn't going to cut it :|

DidoTheDodo · 01/02/2014 14:21

Poor bloke. Sounds like he was doing his best after an accident (not sure I get the "left me stuck in the middle of a restaurant with DS - do you hate being on your own with your child? Where was he supposed to get napkins from? ) and it just wasn't good enough in your eyes. Go and buy another top and cut him some slack.

MimiSunshine · 01/02/2014 14:29

I get how you feel. It's the irrational flash of anger, anyone who thinks they'd react with a cheerful "whoops never mind" and a smile is delusional.
However swallow down your annoyance, keep repeating to yourself that it was an accident (accidents are usually caused by carelessness) and go back out, pop in a cheap shop and buy a t shirt, the coffee will probably wash out

Salmotrutta · 01/02/2014 14:34

I think we need more information.

Was it a latte? Cappuccino? Americano?
Was it small, medium or large?
Was it a full container?
What colour was the napkin?

ZillionChocolate · 01/02/2014 14:35

Get him to buy you a replacement.

verytellytubby · 01/02/2014 14:36

Just buy a new top.

ilovesooty · 01/02/2014 14:37

So he sprang up straightaway to fetch napkins and was doing his best. Poor bloke. This all sounds a bit princessy to me. Momentary annoyance understandable but not continuing to be angry.

Monetbyhimself · 01/02/2014 14:37

Ask him to buy you a new outfit, give him a hug and enjoy the rest of your day.

Honestly OP unless he did it deliberately then you are being very unkind.

PotteringAlong · 01/02/2014 14:38

You're in a shopping centre. Just buy a new top...

KellyHopter · 01/02/2014 14:39

Yes, you absolutely should drive off without him, definitely.
Especially if you're an abusive twat.
Hmm

hoppingmad · 01/02/2014 14:40

Why didn't you want him to come?

The coffee incident is just an accident, you are overreacting

Salmotrutta · 01/02/2014 14:42

I'll bet he does the T-Rex in the supermarket too.

And blames you when he can't find his piano wig.

HomeIsWhereTheHeartIs · 01/02/2014 14:49

Calming down a bit now. But I just wanted to cry. First real trip away from our hometown since DS was born and I was really looking forward to it. He can't afford to buy me a new outfit.
I'm not going to drive off :) having a replace latte on my own now. (It was a full mug of latte btw. No sugar.)

OP posts:
Gruntfuttock · 01/02/2014 14:51

You seem to be very vindictive. It was an accident. I'm sure you wouldn't like to be treated so nastily if you had an accident like that.

Gruntfuttock · 01/02/2014 14:52

I posted my comment before I saw your latest post, OP. I'm glad you're calmer now.

TisforTiger · 01/02/2014 14:56

Ummm some harsh responses here for OP.

I think her post was an annoyed fuelled tongue in cheek post.

She's just had a baby, spilt coffee on her and pissed of with DP not exactly abuse!

Enjoy your drink :)

Also all the suggestions if just buy a new outfit, not everyone can afford to do that.

Enjoy your new coffee and a day at the shops! (And pick up some vanish whilst you're out)
