I've been friends with my ex for 9 years we only went out a couple of months. However his girlfriend is the jealous type so he won't invite me to his birthday party because she will get upset. He is also cutting contact with me making excuses not to meet up e.t.c Aibu to be upset at him.

Hmm...well, I think SHE is bu, but if you're looking for him to prioritise you over his gf, then you are too.

If her jealousy is a problem, then it's down to him to deal with it...but frankly he's in a shady position as regards insisting that you must attend the party. If she's a green eyed monster, that would confirm her crazy fears and cause untold grief for him. Poor guy.

I don't think it's fair for you to be pissed off at him, no.

Mia4 · 30/01/2014 11:28

I think it's shit op hut your ex has shown his priorities. It's sad to lose a friend but your ex can't be much of one if they'd end a friendship like this.

Either that or perhaps your ex feels you are closer then they would like and

nilbyname · 30/01/2014 11:31

That's shit, but the new gf is taking priority. I would have hoped he would not be cutting out old friends, and I would keep in touch a bit and be prepared for the fall out when this all goes pear shaped!

Is he cutting out male friends too?! Red flags!

selfdestructivelady · 30/01/2014 11:35

No just me because I'm his ex we still talk on FB and if it does go pear shaped I'll be there for him.

But it was such a long time ago! God people are weird!

selfdestructivelady · 30/01/2014 11:54

I know it was when we were teenagers and lasted a couple of months. Nothing serious.

Sounds as though she has some problems for sure...hard work for him. You need not add to it by falling out with him though. He will no doubt be backed into a corner by her, and feel he has no choice.
I feel sorry for him...people like that are so completely up their own arse it isn't funny, yet they will behave as though they have every right to make these unreasonable demands.

Overthinkerzzz · 30/01/2014 12:00

9 years is a long time to be friends, you only went out for a few months. If I was your ex I would be having words with the gf

gamerchick · 30/01/2014 12:08

Unfortunately some people male and female are a bit weird about exs. Wish him well and tell him you're backing off. I don't think there's much you can do sadly.

lljkk · 30/01/2014 12:14

Is it really because you're an ex or because you're female? Is he cutting himself off from other friends, including females?

Iwannalaylikethisforever · 30/01/2014 12:17

Have you started another thread re this ex?

selfdestructivelady · 30/01/2014 12:23

No I haven't started another thread re this ex I asked him and he told me it was because I was his ex.

OP posts:
selfdestructivelady · 30/01/2014 12:24

Don't know if he's cutting other female friends out.
