To want people to just LEAVE THE FUCKING THERMOSTAT ALONE?

What is the point?

No one else is "freezing" or "shivering" or unable to work because of the cold.
You are just being a twat.

When you turn the thermostat up, it's boiling hot. And stuffy. And horrible.
So then someone else turns it down.

5 minutes later you are freezing and turning it back up.

For the love of god can everyone just LEAVE IT ALONE?

I am fully aware that was a completely self indulgent rant and of absolutely no interest to anyone other than me. But I feel better now.

Thank you. Grin

I have room thermometers in my buildings so staff can look at them to see the actual temperature rather than how they feel. I do point out that if you only wear a T-shirt in January yes you will be cold, put more clothes on for FFS.

Mist people expect to be able to never wear an extra layer and it always to be t-shirt temperature.

I'd rather have it so I need to add a layer as I like it hotter than my husband and it's better for me to add a layer than him to be uncomfortable and have to strip off or open windrows wider to let all the heat out periodically. Saves on heating bills. 18c is fine.

Ah, we have the thermostat wars in our house. I turn it up - DP turns it down. And so it goes...

People being thick about thermostats makes me want to weep. It won't warm up faster if you turn it up higher!!! One person at work always comes in and cranks it up then complains it's too hot three hours later.

I work with 2 S. Africans. I swear they are lizard people (and I call them that to their faces - it's a good-natured office Grin). The office is set slightly too warm for me and lots slightly too cold for them. Both have a lovely collection of warm scarves and jumpers they wear at their desks, and I don't need a jumper at all. It's a good compromise.

TantrumsAndBalloons · 30/01/2014 09:10

Theres no compromise here

people are either "too hot so I cant concentrate"
or
"so cold i cant feel my fingers"

ffs just leave it alone.

Ha. I live in a two-bed flat with DP and I in one room, and a flatmate in the other. DP and I have the thermostat in our room, but the boiler itself is in the kitchen. We can either have the heating and hot water on, or just the hot water.

Generally, we have the heating on all the time and just control it from the thermostat. But, if my flatmate is too hot or cold, he just turns the boiler off/on and it drives me crazy. I woke up the other day at 3am and it was freezing and thermostat read 7 degrees - lo and behold, annoying flatmate had just turned the boiler off. The heating was only at 15 ayway, so it can't have been that hot! ARGH. Angry

My air conditioning engineer DH would love you. I've lost count of the number of jobs he's been to where the problem isn't with the machine, it's user "twatting about".

Ds1's respite carer does this. She comes over to the house and I go out for the evening. I wake up in the morning in a puddle of sweat and go downstairs to discover the thermostat has been changed from 19 degrees to 25!
I've tried showing her how to put the heating on for the hour "boost" if she's finding it chilly...and I've also shown her how to put on the gas fire in the living room so she could sit there rather than in the kitchen/family room. But no...every time I'm out or away, she does it.
I think that at the very least she should remember to turn it down again, either just before she knows I'm going to be home, or on her way out the door as she's leaving.
I get quite annoyed with myself if I forget to check now before I go to bed! I should've bought her a new jumper for Christmas!
