To think that the whole french First Lady thing proves that women are too reliant on men for status?

It just seems so sad that just because president couldn't keep his snake in his pants a fine woman and journalist looses so much face. I hope she gets her career in journalism back on track.

She didn't exactly cover herself in glory ... They both left their spouses for each other. They weren't married to each other at the end of the day so knew what she was getting involved with. She could have ensured she wasn't too dependant on him and stayed independent I'm sure.

I still feel sorry for her. The poor woman has gone on a pre-arranged trip to (I think) India and is already being accused of behaving like Diana and trying to be "France's queen of hearts"!

I think it was pretty low of Hollande's office to leak the story about her allegedly trashing his office in the Élysées palace, including smashing a Sevres vase. It's designed to make her look unbalanced. Because that's what we women are, isn't it, when we do things that men don't like?

She is independent, by the way. She still writes for Paris Match.

For the record, I would have smashed his smug, gnome-like face rather than the vase.
