To hide my last teabag?

MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 12:56

I am incredibly fussy about tea and only drink a certain brand because I'd rather go without than have a different type. In all other instances I eat/drink anything and am not fussy but tea is my weird thing. I take teabags on holiday and even took a stash when I went backpacking for 9 months!
The in-laws are staying and, having made endless cups of tea for them, I just noticed there is only one bag left. So I hid it so that I can have a precious cup in the morning Grin
I should point out there is other tea available (including a weird collection of herbal shite) but no more of the glorious stuff.
I am quite pleased with my cunning but AIBU?!

YABU to have got to crisis point. One teabag left?! Where's your stockpile?

Hide it and enjoy it, but make better emergency plans for God's sake.

HoratiaDrelincourt · 26/01/2014 13:06

YANBU to hide it. But why have you been wasting special tea on people like me who are equally happy with PG Tips?!

And, ahem...

Why does Karl Marx like teabags?
Because proper tea is theft.

SauvignonBlanche · 26/01/2014 13:11

YANBU at all but can't you get to the shops? How are you going to get through the rest of the day without a Brew ?

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 26/01/2014 13:15

Haven't you got them in your zombie apocalypse case.

Starballbunny · 26/01/2014 13:18

YANBU

MsAspreyDiamonds · 26/01/2014 13:29

My dad is the same, he has been living in the UK but has grown accustomed to a particular brand of tea bags. So he always takes a massive pack with him when he returns home to visit his family. HOWEVER his home region is famous for its tea gardens & regularly exports tea to the UK. Confused My aunts all laugh at him because he can't drink their tea anymore!

MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 14:00

I'm pregnant so limiting myself to one cup a day which is why I wasn't completely on top of the tea bag situation. You are right it should never have come to this but I can't get any more til Monday when I can nip into town to restock.
I'm going to have to drink my special cup in secret tomorrow so I don't get busted. It will taste even better than normal Brew

YNBU. My DGM introduced me to a certain brand at Christmas time. I too, would hide the last cup Grin. You do realise you're going to have to get up at 4am to not get busted dont you?

Misspixietrix · 26/01/2014 14:07

Cup? Bag obviously.

drinkyourmilk · 26/01/2014 14:08

What is the special brand?

MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 14:20

A 4am start would be worth it to sip my tea in illicit guilt free smugness!

I'd rather not say which brand it is because a) you'll judge me (which I can just about cope with) and b) you'll judge my tea and start making ridiculous claims about other clearly inferior brands being equally good/better which is simply not on Grin

MsAspreyDiamonds · 26/01/2014 14:25

You have to tell us what it is so we can try it. I will try it on my dad thw next time he comes round & see if he notices the difference between both of your special brands. Grin

maparole · 26/01/2014 14:26

You have been utterly unreasonable to waste your good tea on the unworthy and thereby to leave yourself in a one-bag situation.

SoBloodyFrustrated · 26/01/2014 14:28

Is it M&S gold label? Come on you have to tell us or I shall deem you v v unreasonable Smile

MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 14:30

I'll give you a clue: "This is not just any old tea bag, this is a..."

MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 14:30

Bloody are you one of us!?!

SoBloodyFrustrated · 26/01/2014 14:32

A tea snob..yes and proud!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/01/2014 14:37

I'm devoted to my very bog standard brand of tea bags so I do understand where you are coming from OP.

One question though - if you are pregnant, why are you the one doing all the fetching and carrying and tea-making?!

FreeAtLastAtLongLast · 26/01/2014 14:38

This thread is my spiritual home Grin
Definitely hide it!

AdoraBell · 26/01/2014 14:44

Shock you should be Ashamed of yourself. Only 1 tea bag left? What will you do if all the shops have sold out by the time you Go shopping, hmm?

Hide it, enjoy it, and for the love of God buy, and hide, a decent supply ASAP.

Misspixietrix · 26/01/2014 14:44

Oh I think I know which one you mean OP and we won't judge you. I drink posher than that now! They can all judge me instead. Quick run and have that last cuppa whilst the in laws aren't looking. We'll cover for you Wink.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 26/01/2014 14:50

Why are you limiting yourself to 1 mug of tea has 75mg of caffeine, you are allowed 200mg, so you can have 2

MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 14:52

I am disappointed in myself that supplies have run so perilously low.
But when I said "nip into town to restock" what I actually meant is "send dh out on his lunch break to get me my bloody tea". And he knows better than to come home empty handed so fear not!
But it won't happen again, all this talk of apocalypse has got me worried - because frankly what good is a nuclear bunker with bog standard tea?

OP posts:
MogwaiTheGremlin · 26/01/2014 14:57

Forty I also eat a lot of chocolate!
I'm not anal about the caffeine but one glorious mug in the morning sees me through and frankly trying to drink anything hot with delinquent ds around isn't worth the hassle

exleodensian · 26/01/2014 15:04

Hell no!
