I have an iPhone 5 on contract. About 6 months into a 2 year contract. First time I have had a phone on contract, always preferred the flexibility of PAYG in case I was having a skint month. Seemed like I was topping up loads though and decided to take it out when we had a bit more money than we do now. Circumstances have changed quite a bit so can no longer afford it so well. Can and will manage cos would have to pay £600 to get out of it.
Quite keen to sell it and buy an older iPhone (3GS or possibly 4 if I can find a good deal) which can be bought cheaply on ebay. This will free up a couple of hundred quid which would be very useful.
A few things I'm not sure on
- is this actually allowed? I'm not too fussed if it isn't because I have no intention of ditching the contract, so can't see any negative repercussions for the buyer or the phone company. Maybe there is something I haven't considered though.
- do iPhone 3GSs use a big/normal sim unlike the mini sim in an iPhone 5? (What does an iPhone 4 take?)
- if I need a different size SIM card, would the phone company (3) send me one? Anyone done this?
- can I still use FaceTime on 3GS or 4?
Really want to stay on iPhone cos we use FaceTime to stay in touch with relatives (we have a 6 week old baby).
Thanks :)
