Is anyone offended by the new flora advert? Apparently they' e had hundreds of complaints, AIBU not to understand why?

Which one? Can't say I have noticed anything offensive but I don't pay that much attention to ads

cerealqueen · 24/01/2014 22:17

Link?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/01/2014 22:19

Ya do know this was on The Wright Stuff today Wink.
He'll be after MN for pinching his subjects rather than the other way round.

SkinnybitchWannabe · 24/01/2014 22:20

Ive not seen it. Why are people complaining?

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:21

VampyreofTimeandMemory · 24/01/2014 22:21

the one where the kids make toast for their mum and dad?

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:22

People are complaining about the insinuation that the children have walked in on their parents 'wrestling' aka having sex

OP posts:
Sirzy · 24/01/2014 22:22

That one has been on for ages.

Don't see the problem at all tbh.

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:23

What is Wright stuff

OP posts:
rainydarkskies · 24/01/2014 22:29

I am inclined to think that if adverts depicting sex/violence in less wholesome contexts than a married couple are permitted and approved of no less then why should this raise an eyebrow? After all, how did the children get there? Ridiculous level of prudishness.

My official response. Unofficially I think it's a bit 'ick!'

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:31

It just goes above childrens heads though surely

OP posts:
squoosh · 24/01/2014 22:40

Unless it's implied that Mum and Dad are using the marg in a Last Tango in Paris stylee I can't see the big deal.

ThePinkOcelot · 24/01/2014 22:43

I really hate that ad. It's like nails down a blackboard to me. I'm not a prude or anything, I just don't like it.

deakymom · 24/01/2014 22:43

well it embarrassed my teen daughter my son asked if they were TNA stars? (the baby puked but im pretty sure that was reflux not opinion) my husband didnt get it at first then he was pretty WTF have they put that on for? he said they should stick to doing ads about butter!

Iwannalaylikethisforever · 24/01/2014 22:47

The ad has been on ages & tbh the first time I saw it I thought it was "just wrong" why need to bring children into an ad that openly portrays adults getting frisky. Just stupid.

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:48

I distinctly remember adults talking about the Ebeneezer good song by the Shamen when I was toung saying we'd all be corrupted by 'E's are good E's are good' nur we didnt have a bloody clue what they or the song were on about, I think this outrage is similar

OP posts:
2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:49

What is TNA stars?

OP posts:
FloweryFeatureWall · 24/01/2014 22:50

I find it uncomfortable. Why are they using children walking in on sex to sell margerine? Just a bit ugh for me.

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 22:52

I think its supposed to depict family life,
What it has to do with butter in not sure but i just dont get the upset

OP posts:
FredFredGeorge · 24/01/2014 23:07

marg is a pretty tough sell now you can't make any claims about it being healthier than butter and most people think heavily processed food is crap.

Do you work for the ad agency 2tiredtocare? It's not a bad ad, doubt there are many complaints though.

RandyRudolf · 24/01/2014 23:09

Meh. Don't think there's anything wrong with it.

2tiredtocare · 24/01/2014 23:14

Er, no! And there have been hundreds of complaints hence the AIBU

OP posts:
propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 24/01/2014 23:20

Yanbu. I've commented on a similar thread on this advert a while back. You don't need sex to sell margarine. What next? The mum lubes up her cunt with Flora? It is a bad advertising angle for the product and the involvement of children walking in on sex is just misguided and unnecessary. Yuk. Puts me off buying flora. I don't want to be thinking about genitals as I butter my toast.....

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 24/01/2014 23:20

Yabu not yanbu!

HaroldLloyd · 24/01/2014 23:22

I've got edenezeer Goode in my head now and a horrible mental picture of flora fannies.

That's all I have to say.
