to ask about your 34C boobs?

So I'm considering a breast reduction and surgeons generally recommend a C cup size. I haven't been a C cup since puberty and I can't imagine it at all! Anyone who's a 34C - I'd really appreciate some info :-)

For example....
Do you feel completely secure in a strapless bra, or can you even go braless occasionally? (on holiday or if a special outfit demands?)
Is it easy to find flattering swimwear?
Can you wear shrug-type cardigans and do they look nice?

I'm pretty tall, no hips but a bit of a muffin-top - is my tummy suddenly going to be bigger than my boobs? I'm used to being voluptuous, but part of me wants the novelty of a boyish figure. Is this a nice compromise or a neither-here-nor-there middle ground?

All advice gratefully received!

If you are going to end up a genuine c (and be cautious it seems that sometimes they can be way off - wasn't Jordan apparently reduced to a d - didn't look much like it to me!)
Then yes, you can go braless with a c cup.

I have varied between a b-d cup all my life, even when pg/bfing. They are a c now and I can go braless, outfit depending, and certainly don't need a bra in bed or extra support in swimming cossies etc, but then because they have always been on the small side they have never dropped too much. It will depend entirely on what shape you are left with/how much uplift you get etc.

But a c cup is not huge at all. Think Kylie kind of size I reckon. Not completely flat chested, but not all that much up top either.

Fwiw I love my c cup rack, but then I have never been one to hanker after big boobs. If having big boobs is part of your identity, maybe that will feel a bit small?!

I am a 32c so a bit smaller, and am very happy with my breasts but I think 34c would be a perfect size Grin

SorrelForbes · 26/01/2014 10:16

Jordan is about a JJ. Kylie is probably around a 26FF (if not bigger).

Post reduction C cup, when they 'settled' were a D and have been ever since, thrilled with the reduction and wish I'd done it decades earlier. Yes to strapless bras, yes to managing without a bra at all, yes to wearing pretty clothes I'd been looking enviously at women wearing for years that I'd been far too big to get into. Love it :)

The joy of walking into any store and picking up a pretty bra off the shelf with lots to choose from was overwhelming, and not be limited to the few highly expensive and very plain ones on offer for my cup size before.

Ok, genuine question about bra sizing? I did the measuring thing, with the whole 90 degree bending over thing. Not elegant! However, I'm 31 inches under, 39 inches over.

BUT when I got fitted at john Lewis, they put me in a 32 DD, and I yogurt it was a bit tight, but I bought it on their advice. It was so tight it was unwearable, made me feel sick. I persevered for a week and then gave up, total waste of £40. So how is that going to be my band size, whatever cup size I go for?

SorrelForbes · 26/01/2014 11:45

ThisIsMyRealName A C cup in any band size is certainly not voluptuous

GinOnTwoWheels · 26/01/2014 11:45

Cups could be too small Cinderella, although I thought JL were supposed to be one of the good guys.

I have the same measurements as you but usually take a 30FF or 32F. In one style of bra I have, the cups are a little too small and I could really do with a 30 G but by then I d gone through about 3 sale and return cycles with fig leaves and gave up. In future I am going to stick with bravissimo, which I know and trust.

Could your period be due, and you could be ok with the new bra later?

Or check on here for links to how to tell if a bra fits and then query with Jl. they are good with customer service so if they have failed you, they might do an exchange if you ask nicely?

SorrelForbes · 26/01/2014 11:47

CinderellaRockefeller Your measurements suggest a starting point of 30FF/G and 32F/FF. I'm not surprised a DD felt unbearably tight. The fitting at JL can be OK but many fitters still don't know what they're doing!

Take the bra back and try some more sizes.

StatisticallyChallenged · 26/01/2014 12:56

Yup, not enough cup space...if the cup is too small then it steals the fabric from the band so the band ends up feeling too tight. The way to test that that's the problem is to put the bra on back to front. This takes the cups out of the equation so you can just judge the band in isolation

FiscalCliffRocksThisTown · 26/01/2014 15:17

I have 34c boobs, they are quite small on me as I am 6ft1!

Still, they are mine, and I like them and I can wrar strapless bra and strappy dresses/tops.

I always think it must be nice to have proper bosoms though!

bozley10 · 08/03/2014 12:28

Hi,

Can you tell me who your surgeon was and if you are happy with the results?

singleandfabulous · 19/03/2014 09:46

If anyone is still on this thread I'd love to hear success stories. I'm having my breast reduction (from 32GG) on the 31st March. CANNOT WAIT.

dingit · 19/03/2014 10:04

Come back and tell us how you got on. I have lost nearly two stone, but none off my 34jj boobs! Frustrating. Good luck with your op.
