To ask who makes THE best black leggings?

Woowoowoowoo · 23/01/2014 19:42

I'm going through a phase where I just feel like jeans encase my flab and make me feel quite repulsive.

Soo...while on a diet I'm on a mission to find the best black leggings. And tunic tops?

Bah link fail

ViviPru · 24/01/2014 09:19

ASOS soft touch £8

MsVelvet · 24/01/2014 10:03

H&M and M&S, i live in leggings, and these brands are the best for me :)

Laura0806 · 24/01/2014 10:03

yes the boden ones in my opinion are better. They are more expensive but they don't go see through. The sainsburies ones do and I realised to my horror one day in the playground on a particularly sunny day, aarrrgghhh!!

Nancy66 · 24/01/2014 10:05

It's all about the elastine/lycra content. Don't buy any with less than 8%

joydivisionovengloves · 24/01/2014 10:12

Boden leggings last for years

Alwayscheerful · 24/01/2014 10:13

I like the sainsburys £10 leggings, the Boden leggings are very thin in comparison.

OTheHugeManatee · 24/01/2014 10:15

American Apparel make the best ones, IMO. Last for ages and not see-through, unlike every other legging I've ever tried.

Latara · 24/01/2014 10:16

Sainsbury's black leggings are good. £10 for 2 pairs.

I wear them under short skirts / dresses; long jumpers; or to the gym.

Halfling · 24/01/2014 10:20

Boden Leggings are the best by far.

M&S is a well deserving second.

Woowoowoowoo · 24/01/2014 12:13

Who'd have ever thought leggings would become such a wardrobe staple.

I'm in matalan at the mo. Cheap enough to buy a new pair every six weeks and don't go baggy x

simonthedog · 25/01/2014 11:12

I bought the Sainsburys luxury leggings yesterday. They are lovely and come in long length! I will be going back for more.

Woowoowoowoo · 25/01/2014 13:11

Oooh must get to Sainsburys!

That's a nice low environmental impact plan Bedsheets

jeanmiguelfangio · 25/01/2014 15:12

I have new look ones, soft and they do different lengths too. Not see thru and comfy

member · 25/01/2014 15:13

Boden have been best for me to date but haven't bought any for ages so hope they haven't changed. They are not see through & although in certain lights you can see a teeny bit of sheen from the lycra, they don't look mega shiny/synthetic. The black also keep their colour well.

sobbingmummy · 25/01/2014 15:14

Leggins need to be banned.

Go to Zara and buy some trouser style leggins. Much thicker material and they suck you in.

Woowoowoowoo · 25/01/2014 15:42

Sobbing I'm on the floor a lot with the kids - are the thicker trouser types as comfy?

OP posts:
Sparrowlegs248 · 25/01/2014 15:45

Next are nice but come up too short on me - not so bad but then the ankle bit is actually too wide so they look odd if not worn with boots. I'm not overly tall 5'7.

Topshop leggings are fab but a bit 'hipster'

I am def checking sainsbury out!

sobbingmummy · 25/01/2014 15:54

Woowoo, they are thicker and much better quality so ideal for being at home with children as the knees and bottom don't go all baggy.
They are also very stretchy which makes them just as comfortable as leggins. HTH

kelper · 25/01/2014 15:55

I bought some spanx footless tights in tk maxx, they are really thick so can be worn as leggings and they're brilliant! God knows how much they cost from spanx but I paid £8 in tk maxx.
I also second m&s indigo, I'm 5'8" and they are at my ankles.
Next are ok but not very thick.

Hunfriend · 25/01/2014 15:57

Uniqlo - Their trouser leggings are much better than leggings.
They are a nice thick fabric than doesn't bag, they are nicely cut and structured and don't go see through.
DD 20 saw mine and went straight out and got some.
I have grey, navy, and dark denim.

I do have some Sainsburys leggings as well - they tend to be worn on days when Im not going out of the house though.

Shockers · 25/01/2014 16:02

I wear leggings and tunics for work and the best leggings I've found are from Monsoon. They're thick and they have a really wide waistband that holds my tummy firmly.

For tunics, I like Braintree, Great Plains, Joules and Seasalt.

I think leggings can look quite smart with a tunic and nice boots, as long as your top covers your bum!
