To ask who makes THE best black leggings?

Woowoowoowoo · 23/01/2014 19:42

I'm going through a phase where I just feel like jeans encase my flab and make me feel quite repulsive.

Soo...while on a diet I'm on a mission to find the best black leggings. And tunic tops?

Msaspreydiamonds I totally agree. They are quite the most unflattering piece of fashion ever invented. I still wear them (with tunic tops, long cardies etc) However, I have one friend who is nearly 6 feet tall and about a size 8 - leggings were made for her, just as trousers. I have never met anyone who carries them off like that. She is definitely the exception, though.

Woowoowoowoo · 23/01/2014 22:48

I feel a not sick with jealousy at your lovely talk skinny friend Sponging

I always get mine from New Look, they always seem to last and fit quite well, they don't sag and are generous in length.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 23/01/2014 22:50

New look or Asda.

I hear primark ones are pretty nice Wink

Woowoowoowoo · 23/01/2014 22:51

I don't rate the Primark ones - v see through Blush

WitchWay · 23/01/2014 22:52

Boden - quite expensive but excellent

oohdaddypig · 23/01/2014 22:54

If you feel the cold, primark do extra warm fluffy on the inside leggings. They are a-m-a-z-I-n-g. And cheap. And comfy.

roastednut · 23/01/2014 23:19

I would really like to hijack slightly and ask what everyone favourite black tights are. And does anyone else get dusty, white bits on their black thickish tights?? (And it's just on the calf area nowhere dodgy!) Aibu to wonder wtf it is??! Grin

armani · 24/01/2014 01:09

sainsburys £10 leggings are the best without a doubt and ive tried nezt, topshop and boden. hth.

StrawberryTot · 24/01/2014 01:24

Woowoowoowoo thank you so much for asking this question I will be heading down to sainsburys tomorrow Grin also Roastednut I really like tesco cotton soft tights in black.

giraffesCantMakeResolutions · 24/01/2014 01:31

boden

goodasitgets · 24/01/2014 01:37

Maidenform leggings
More like tights material but have a tummy flattening bit. Comfy, never fall down and on Tesco website so you can use club card points Wink

chrome100 · 24/01/2014 07:43

Oh god - don't wear a tunic and leggings! They are the height of mumsy frumpiness and unflattering on everyone.

Chopstheduck · 24/01/2014 07:47

I love sainsburys too, they are so soft. Only thing is I do find they come up a bit big, especially around the waist.

H&M are good too, nice and thick and a better fit on me.

Tunic tops are not necessarily frumpy neither! I'm sure I don't look frumpy in them, 5'11 and size 12.

Ilovewaleswhenitrains · 24/01/2014 07:49

M&S Indigio leggings are good.

Back2Basics · 24/01/2014 07:53

I wear leggings almost every day,

Sainsburys, new look and top shop are the best.

H&M fade quite quickly.

2rebecca · 24/01/2014 08:07

I like Long Tall Sally's £16 black leggings for the length, I'm 5 ft 8 and they are still wrinkly at the ankles. They are thin but not see through, may try Sainsbury, I presumed their leggings like most chain ones would be far too short but maybe not.

MikeWazowski · 24/01/2014 08:28

Another sainsburys fan here, I'm 5'7" and I buy the ones for tall people, as other posters have said get the £10 ones, perfect Smile

caz1010 · 24/01/2014 08:32

Primark fleece lined are my weapon of choice at the moment Grin
As they are so thick, and snugly warn, they seem to hold everything in nicely Wink

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 24/01/2014 08:39

These are lovely - thick as you like, relatively forgiving over the lumps and bumps and high in the waist.

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 24/01/2014 08:44

If you're wearing under dresses rather than tunics, I can absolutely recommend Dotty P's 120 denier black tights. I bought some for a Christmas party, totally expecting them to only last the one wear but they're still going strong and I wear them all the time. They're only about £8 a pair, but properly opaque like leggings would be, very comfortable around the waist (and actually flatten my tummy a bit) and better value than any similarly priced leggings I've tried out.

tattyteddy · 24/01/2014 08:46

I like m&s ones, keep shape after washing.

Dawndonnaagain · 24/01/2014 08:47

Boden. Had mine for a couple of years, still look new. Love them and am definitely not a Boden person.

CalamitouslyWrong · 24/01/2014 09:05

On tights... Asda's 300 denier black tights are brilliant. And cheap.
