dreamies, my cat is an addict

my cat had dreamies at Christmas in her stocking from Santa Paws. ( ok I know) anyway she's absolutly addicted now. I have to keep buying them and she's always trying to get her paw into the cupboard to steal some. she howls and miaows at us all constantly if we pass the cupboard.

are they a cat drug? should I make her go cold turkey?

advice please cat owners.

Never tried Dreamies - we are a whiskas lot. But bloody hell you move the packet and our 3 come flying like bats out of hell

One of ours also loves KFC. In that you walk in the house with a takeaway (bad food!) and he can literally smell it at 50 paces and is trying to get into your lap whilst you eat it.

He's also partial to toast. Which makes breakfast a bit of a nightmare

Ours is not wild about Dreamies, but does go bonkers for catnip. Every year I hunt some down in the garden centre but he eats the lot before it can get established. He goes hyper energetic then sinks into a trance. It is our version of Cat Crack.

He also is crazy about squirty cream, it has to be the full cream sort, not the 'light' and he prefers Lidl's own. I can't think it is good for him but he is so addicted I always give in.

My cat will hang around outside at night in the snow just so that she will get dreamies when we call her in.

We also have a dreamies addict!! He's now got us trained so well that he deliberately runs into the garage (where he's not meant to be - lots of debris as we're doing up the house) as we will then rattle the dreamies packet so he comes out.

On the plus side of his addiction, he had conjunctivitis recently, and he was a darling about the eyedrops once he figured out that dreamies followed shortly after ;)

yep, batcat loves them, but she only has the chicken ones.

i got into a habit of giving her a few in the morning when i do the kids breakfast, and oh my god, she SHOUTS at me now until i produce them!

I have a dreamies addict. We call them crack cocaine for cats. My kitten actually gets the packet and runs and hides under my bed with it, the little darling (shit!). She then bites her way through packet until she makes a hole big enough to get to them. We literally have to lock them away!!!!

I have made a mistake. I foolishly gave my Siamese some one morning when I got up for work. Now he wakes me at the same time EVERY sodding morning, including Saturdays and Sundays. There is NO respite. Sob. He whacks me round the head if I pretend to sleep!! Once given his morning crack I am like so much dirt on his paws.
He is currently gracing me with his presence on my lap. Furry behind in my face of course. He never looks at me except when I give him Dreamies.

My 2 cats threw up within 5 mins of each other after eating dreamies.

Mine is a bit of an addict too, unlike a previous feline member of the Taxi family who was obsessed with onion bhajis.

Other 'likes' I've come across over the cat-owning years - christmas cake, glace cherries, twiglets, sprouts, swiss roll and mushroom stuffing - and that was just one Christmas - don't recommend the sprouts idea, poor Taxicat found those a bit windy!

my kitten went crazy for dreamies acting like a base running cokehead and when i withdrew them after reading these posts she got quite aggressive. I got some duck jerky typeofstuff from wilko today( £1/50g) and she wolfed them like the other but has flaked out like a soft toy instead of ripping up the sofa. much more reassuring ingredient list and a quiet cat. result!

I have had cats for many years, so nothing surprises me about them now. I was thinking of buying dreamies for my 'little madam', but now I've changed my mind!.
Always remember, your cat stays with you because it wants to, if it thinks it's not being looked after good enough it will move, normally within sight - next door, over the road. No matter how many times you call it, the cat WILL NOT come back and will look at you with distain on it's face!
We are only here at their bidding!.

I've had to stop giving mine the cheese flavoured dreamies because it creates tensions...the other ones seem less addictive, cat methadone rather than cat heroin if you will!

Can't have them in the house as my cats drive me mad wanting them all day.
I left an unopened packet on the side once and ten minutes later I came into the kitchen to put the kettle on and they were bloody well empty! Shock
Heaven forbid anyone gets them catnip as that's even worse! Cat scratched me because he was too impatient for me to open it so I threw the packet in the bin. Later on I hear the bin fall over and a cat dash through the cat flap with the packet in his mouth! Cheeky gits!

RESTART IT with a warning. I've only just found dreamies AND yourselves and from what I read I believe there could be a danger lurking around this dammed cat treat boom. Mad Cats and Small Children don't go together. People need to know if there is a possible danger.

My cat quite likes Dreamies, but he once ripped a box to tiny shreds to get at the tea bags inside, which contained lavender. I returned to find him rolling ecstatically in a pile of tea bags wearing silly grin. However, my cat is an idiot.

My cat TomTom is also a Dreamies crack addict! He has been driving me crazy for months, everytime I move he follows me into the kitchen and will sit meowing at me and when I look at him and say what do you want his eyes shift upwards left to the Dreamies cupboard. He will sit in another room with me and meow at me until I go to the Dreamies cupboard - he's going through 350g a week! It has been so out of control I feel bad keep feeding him and his addiction so last week I brought a food maze so I could pour the Dreamies into that and he would have to puzzle them out to the feeder at the bottom. He's not interested in that and does exactly the same meowing at me and I've ended up playing with this food maze trying to show him how to use it but it's now just a £15 lump of useless plastic sitting in the middle of the room! After this weeks 350g are gone i'm not getting them anymore, I think TomTom has got a real problem and will have to go cold turkey.

They are spray coated with chicken oil, that's the secret ingredient!
My boy can take or leave then, but has an addiction to Lik-e-Liks ( beige sludge in stick packs) but won't touch the cheese and taurine flavour.
Also a 'nip-head.

I reckon the 'vegetable protein derivatives' are derived from catnip, valerian root, tatarian honeysuckle, cat thyme, lemongrass and Japanese catnip. Covers the majority of the feline population one way or another.
