...to think about switching my son's nursery six months before he starts school?

my ds has been at the same nursery since he was about one and loves all the staff. but we're concerned about the level of preschool provision there and also about the behaviour he is picking up from some of the other kids. i will be the first to admit he is no angel but we do want the best environment for him. my older one did preschool at a school and seemed to do much better with it in terms of numeracy, literacy and arts and crafts. although my older one is a girl and a winter baby and my younger a summer so i know that can make a difference. so would it be daft to switch him when he will be starting school in september?

Will 6 months really make that much difference? I wouldn't as it would mean 2 changes in a short period of time. I might consider it only if the nursery was attached to the school he's going to in September.

I'd probably leave him where he is now as he'll just be getting settled and then have to move again...unless it's the preschool attached to the school he'll be attending? If not could he stay where he is and go over some of the phonics/numbers etc at home? They will revisit everything in reception several times anyway.

thanks for your replies. to be honest the 'academic' stuff is less of an issue for us. it's the other kids behaviour and the lack of creative stuff coming home. perhaps i should have a look at his book and see what he actually gets up to!
