To think traffic wardens should dress like police officers?

It is frustrating me.

They literally wear the same outfit. Only difference is the name across their back, which you can't read until you get fairly close.

Kind of defeats the purpose of high vis...

I've thought this for a while, but then today I saw a woman try to get the attention of the policeman (I don't actually know what was happening( and it was just a traffic warden.

Why do they wear the same clothing?

YANBU.

All it does is make them jobsworthy and give them ideas above their station.

HMG83 · 22/01/2014 20:42

Oh, thankfully they don't round here. And they're generally dressed quite sloppily too!

Juno77 · 22/01/2014 20:48

Oh really? I wish they would wear more sloppy outfits here.

They piss me off anyway, and now they wander about dressed exactly like police officers, thinking they are akin.

Same goes for our drippy PCSO can't conceive who recruited him into a smart and respectable uniform.

Salmotrutta · 22/01/2014 21:03

It's not rocket science to distinguish the different coloured chequered banding round the hats surely?

And the big kick-ass writing on the back of their jackets...

Juno77 · 22/01/2014 22:22

They don't have different coloured banding in their hats here. And if they do, it certainly isn't obvious.

And you can't read the back unless a) you are behind them and b) you are quite close.

From a distance, they look like police officers. You cannot tell.

Ours wear nasty blue acrylic jumpers. The traffic wardens. And are all immigrants. Clearly no one else will put up with the abuse.

The police on the other hand, all seem to have graduated from the school of fuckwittery. Never have I come across so many poorly educated, overweight, social misfits as I have with the local constabulary.

DameDeepRedBetty · 23/01/2014 05:59

Ours used to stand out beautifully, dark green and yellow hi-vis, nothing like policemen or CPSOs, so no mixups, and you could see them coming and warn each other to move your cars Smile.

They've changed their uniforms now though to deep navy with discreet purple trim, it doesn't really look like uniform from a distance, and they can creep along the street with their beastly little hand held computer and camera and bag of tickets, more or less undetected.

StoorieHoose · 23/01/2014 06:29

police Scotland are looking to get rid of their attachment to traffic wardens and move responsibility to local councils so you won't have to worry about it for long
