To shudder at this?

We were standing outside a local cafe while I was sorting our shopping in the pram, saw a staff member drop food off at a table outside where a lady had a dog. She then bent down and kneeled on the wet floor (apron on the floor) and the dog leaned its front legs onto her chest, scrabbled all over the apron and then licked her face. It was doggy snogging her. I assume it's her dog by how friendly she was with it and she then went back into the cafe presumably to carry on working.

I feel a bit sick now and just had to word vomit this out to get it out my head.

Bleurgh!

honeythewitch · 22/01/2014 13:43

Bur she might have got washed and changed straight away.

NellysKnickers · 22/01/2014 13:44

Did the dog lick your food? Not really a dog fan but this seriously wouldn't bother me.

TheWiseOldElf · 22/01/2014 13:46

That is absolutely disgusting. I really hope she washed and changed before serving other customers. Yuk yuk yuk!!!

propertyNIGHTmareBEFOREXMAS · 22/01/2014 13:47

I would shudder too but if you think too hard about food preparation in general then you will put yourself off ever eating out again. Even fresh cabbages have gross caterpillars and flys all over them. Everything is flawed in some way.

honeythewitch · 22/01/2014 13:48

Or she might have finished her shift...

Theodorous · 22/01/2014 14:14

I feel the same about bogey fingered toddlers poking the cakes. Would much prefer spaniel snot or staffy spit personally

AdmiralData · 22/01/2014 15:07

Sorry Op YABU Grin

I've had dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, hamsters, tortoises, snakes and African snails all my short life and nothing they do bothers me. I currently have a dog (lives with my mother) who will tongue snog you if given half the chance.
I don't encourage this behaviour but it seriously doesn't bother me if someone else does it.
I live near two cafes. One has a dog who all the customers know and do not have a problem with, the other has a cat who if prompted will come and sit by you. They're lovely

MeepMeepVrooooom · 22/01/2014 15:49

I find a dog licking anyone's quite disgusting if I'm honest. It does make it marginally worse it was someone else's dog and to not go and wash after... Eugh.

I love dogs by the way and have had dogs all my life but I do not let them lick me.

Theodorous · 24/01/2014 11:11

How on earth do you stop your own dogs licking? Am keen to know as I currently have 2 slobbery fosters, a Great Dane and Pitbull. Even the cats are walking sound with damp spiky heads. The only safe people are the parrots because they peck them and fly away. Having read this back have just realised I am living in a bloody zoo

SkinnybitchWannabe · 24/01/2014 11:14

In her own home thats fine.
But in a cafe its bloody gross. I hope she had the good sense to throughly wash her hands and change her pinny.
Eurgh

Birdsgottafly · 24/01/2014 11:18

She may have been finishing her shift.

The wash that you do food prep overalls on, is a sterilising wash and is string enough to kill off anything picked up from the dog or floor.

There is greater danger in uncooked food being chopped and micro partials landing on her apron.

If you had if seen her go back and serve food, then YWNBU.

I live with German Shepard hair balls, the size of tumble weed during sheading season, but I have accepted that, as par for the course of having a small kitchen and a GS.

BadChat25 · 24/01/2014 13:46

I don't know. Obviously they tried when they were pups but I would pull away or push them off (big dogs trying to pin me down thinking it was a game)

They just don't try now...

BadChat25 · 24/01/2014 13:47

Sorry thought I'd answer

Theodorous · 24/01/2014 14:30

We are going to persevere with pushing new arrivals. As for the tumbleweed I know! We have central air conditioning in our house with 2 vents in each room that blow more hair than air. We must cost our company more than anyone else in servicing and repairs. We tried an air purifier but it got full of fluff cat hair and GSD moult and caught fire
