morning , near where i live is a mental health hospital it has day patients and patients who stay overnight , my daughter has to go past on the way to school , meet friends and into town , shes 14 , on two occasions now a man was outside and started following her and tried to talk to her , he said he wanted her to be his girlfriend and grabbed her arm , so the problem is do i approach the hospital staff (they might say not there problem ) or do i go to police .

Police, I'd call them on 101. You don't know that the man is related to the hospital at all.

Notaddictedtosugar · 21/01/2014 08:49

Approach the hospital staff, then if the man is nothing to do with them, or if they are not helpful go to the police.

mrsjay · 21/01/2014 09:54

phone the hospital and tell them that your dd has been harassed with possible patients they might not be though does she really have to walk past it can she not walk over the other side ? but if it happens again call the police and the hospital

formerbabe · 21/01/2014 09:56

I would contact the police asap.

overfacebook · 21/01/2014 16:26

I agree-sounds potentially v risky-I'd contact police.

magimedi · 21/01/2014 16:27

Police & don't delay.

Confitdecanard · 21/01/2014 16:28

I'd call 101. The police can then contact the hospital.

MrsHowardRoark · 21/01/2014 16:31

I would go into the hospital to speak to the staff, share your concerns and mention that you are thinking of contacting the police. They should deal with it if he is a patient.

I used to work in a psychiatric unit and we would take this kind of thing very seriously. Also, if he is a patient the police may be very little help. Our local police were always terrified of dealing with anyone with mental health problems and would just leave people outside the unit Hmm

Police asap. This happened to me when I was younger, probably around same age as your DD. He thought I was his dead wife and tried to drag me with him. Looking back as an adult I can see how sad this is, but as a child I was petrified.
The police came straight away

hi thanks for the advice , i ended up going to the hospital , they were very understanding , and are going to find out if he was a day patient from the description of him , they also said if it happened again my dd is to call the police straight away and get away asap as some of the patients tend to be a bit unpredictable .
