...by wedding planning/organisation already?
Can't I please just rely on the weather being hot and make everyone bring a picnic so we can scoff and get drunk outside?

I've only been engaged for a day Grin

Breathe!! Take it easy- there are loads of sites to help. Think about what really matters to you and your partner.

Pick a venue and set the date
Get your dress 6 months before

The rest will fall into place after that

Relax and enjoy your engagement! Someone once told me this is the most romantic part of your life, the excitement of the impending marriage, the knowledge of how much he loves you and still the enjoyment that comes with the early part of a relationship.

Enjoy and congratulations.

I was stressed to buggery organising my wedding. Before, I couldn't see what the fuss was - you book the venue, flowers, dress, send out the invitations, what's the problem? It was all the little details that stressed me out. It didn't help that I had a newborn, a toddler, stress induced depression, we were getting married in a venue 100 miles away and had less than six months to organise it. With hindsight, I was a fucking lunatic to even attempt it all.

But congratulations, I'm sure you'll be fine!

I'm getting married on the 1st June this year. We set the date about 10 months ago.

We've booked the venue, photographer, and church so far. I'm in the process of teaching myself to make bouquets and buttonholes via YouTube and plan on making them all myself from artificial flowers which will cost next to nothing. As we're getting married on a Summer Sunday, the church will already be full of flowers which is great for cost-savings. We're also making the table centres and place holders and invites so in the process of collecting the materials for those.

Df's job is to book the suits this week at Slaters and mine is to book the cars (already got quotes).

I'm currently looking at wedding and bridesmaids dresses on an online site which a friend used - made to measure dresses take 8 weeks to arrive so will probably order in February.

Then we'll pick up the rings and book the honeymoon in a couple of months time, around March. Also any bits - pressies for the wedding party, shoes, accessories, and I'll book someone for hair and make up.

I'm really laid back about it all - I still have over 4 months to go, plenty of time!
