In my case, it is earrings and scent, but a friend says it has to be quality underwear in case she is run over by a bus!?? (so no Bridget Jones pants!); another needs her high heels.

So I was just wondering, what is your 'can't live without' item?

The whole enchilada... full grooming top to toe. I don't wear very much make-up but I do wear the full range - and high heels at all times... and a good spritz of Jasper Conran's 'Woman'.

CustardOmlet · 19/01/2014 16:15

Washed hair, anti perspirant and a bra.

LaFataTurchina · 19/01/2014 16:20

I'm not too fussed about bras. Though I'll always wear one to work if I'm just going to the supermarket etc. and I'm wearing a few layers I'll quite happily not wear one.

PepeLePew · 19/01/2014 16:23

Earrings, watch, diamond ring. Always. That

PepeLePew · 19/01/2014 16:28

Oops: that plus SPF is the minimum. Anything else depends on the occasion.

This is a fascinating thread - seeing the different things people think are important!

The thing I find most striking is the number of people who would don a bra to go out - meaning, presumably, that, if you were staying in, you wouldn't bother with one.

I put one on every morning as soon as I've washed - too scared of going saggy! (although not that voluptuous) Just doesn't feel right...

Latara · 19/01/2014 17:24

A bra, lipstick and earrings!

KeatsiePie · 19/01/2014 17:58

Omg I forgot that I feel like you do about the engagement and wedding rings WeeBoobs. Genuinely. I know exactly what you mean.

I am now sitting here feeling like I have betrayed my marriage by forgetting to list them.

FortyDoorsToNowhere · 19/01/2014 18:01

My hair done.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 19/01/2014 18:27

Yes, bra has been puzzling me too, I thought that it just went without saying like all clothes.

I do feel a bit bare without my rings, but I sleep in them so they're notnot something I have to put on in the morning.

AndWHOOSHTheyWereGone · 19/01/2014 18:41

Clean hair (I'd rather go out with it wet than greasy and tied up), foundation, eyeliner and lipstick. I have very scarred skin from years of cystic acne which caused lumps on my face upto 5inches in size which obviously stretched and ruined the skin. I can't make eye contact if I've not got that scarring covered, I feel unbelievably self conscious. That and some form of dress or skirt and jumper and I'm good to go. It doesn't matter with re to footwear as all my shoes and boots have a slight heel. I had an untreated fracture to my left foot as a child which means that even years later I still get pain if I wear flat shoes.

Bettercallsaul1 · 19/01/2014 18:44

WhoKnowsWhere Oh good - a kindred spirit ! There's obviously a whole "liberated" world out there of which we knew not.

CMOTDibbler · 19/01/2014 18:48

As long as I have my glasses and pants I'm not bothered tbh. Anyone who judges me on how I look can ftfo.

Bettercallsaul1 · 19/01/2014 18:51

You would be cold, though, CMOT...

DumSpiroSpero · 19/01/2014 19:36

Contact lenses - I've worn them since I was 14 and don't feel like me in specs, although I've had to get used to them in recent years due to my hayfever flaring up badly.

CMOTDibbler · 19/01/2014 19:38

I think if I did go out in pants and glasses there would be mass fainting and public disorder. Its bad enough exposing the world to me in running shorts and vest

steff13 · 19/01/2014 19:55

Mascara, lip gloss, perfume, watch.

ThreeBeeOneGee · 19/01/2014 20:05

Clothes
Bra
Teeth brushed

That's it, really.

kiwiscantfly · 19/01/2014 20:41

Birdmomma you are so right, NZ is very forgiving! Esp in summer. When I was a kid (and even now actually) my mum moly had one rule, you must have something on your feet. And as many NZers walk about bare feet I get what she's saying.
Back to the question, deodorant, a hair tie, and a bra would do it for me.

stealthsquiggle · 19/01/2014 20:52

Underwear. That is what definitely makes the distinction between pyjamas and being "dressed" in my mind. I have occasionally driven DS to school in pj's (I don't get out of the car) but I feel incredibly vulnerable without bra and knickers.

RudolphtheRedknowsraindear · 19/01/2014 22:17

My walking stickSad

WitchWay · 19/01/2014 22:19

Earrings definitely - I always wear dangly ones & if I realise I've come out without I feel naked all day!

AbbeyBartlet · 20/01/2014 19:24

Shower, underwear and clothes - then I am good to go!

PenguinDancer · 20/01/2014 19:53

Hair done, and a little eye liner and mascara. Skinnies and heeled boots preferable.
