In my case, it is earrings and scent, but a friend says it has to be quality underwear in case she is run over by a bus!?? (so no Bridget Jones pants!); another needs her high heels.

So I was just wondering, what is your 'can't live without' item?

Great knickers and a good bra

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 18/01/2014 19:48

Mascara. Knickers optional.

gordyslovesheep · 18/01/2014 19:49

clothes and brushed hair

KatnipEvergreen · 18/01/2014 19:50

Clothes, and brush my hair.

NearTheWindmill · 18/01/2014 19:54

Good hair, make-up (don't wear much), squirt of perfume, good coat. Doesn't then matter much what's underneath unless I have to take it off. I have tucked my pyjama bottoms into boots, thrown on a coat and rushed to the doctors to make an appointment as they opened the door when the dc were small and sickly.

Dilidali · 18/01/2014 20:07

Ironed clothes, polished shoes, a bit of make up, blow dried hair, earrings, carkeys and handbag.

jammiedonut · 18/01/2014 20:12

Face cream with SPF and a bra. Any clothes on top and I'm out. When I'm at work I need a full face of 'natural' makeup to feel presentable, but otherwise I couldn't give a toss what I look like!

SockQueen · 18/01/2014 20:20

Clothes appropriate for wherever I'm going, including a bra and shoes.

Glasses
Lipbalm
Brushed hair

I have never felt the need to wear make-up routinely, it's special occasions only for me.

BakerStreetSaxRift · 18/01/2014 21:46

Eyeliner, blusher, heels and mascara.

The rest is an added bonus, but the above I couldn't go without.

persimmon · 18/01/2014 22:02

Perfume and foundation or primer (or both).
CHJR Grin

scantilymad · 18/01/2014 23:43

Bare minimum; Hair brushed or in a bun, scrubbed face, SPF, mascara and blush, tinted Vaseline which does lips and any stray eyebrows, big sunglasses and a scarf, changing bag which was stupidly expensive but doubles as a handbag. Throw requires crapola in bag, pull on combination of whichever skinny jeans, vest top and ballet flats are nearest and done!

On a good day I might get a full face of makeup and
and some heels on. Maybe.

MakingEveryDayCount · 18/01/2014 23:58

Clothes and a hairbrush. Grin

guffaw · 19/01/2014 02:49

work day - make up (mostly concealer, rest is to ensure I have distinct features amid the concealer Grin ) earrings

day off - earrings, walking boots

going out - earrings

Dolcelatte · 19/01/2014 06:57

Thanks for all of your replies - a most interesting range - I'm obviously not alone with the earrings!

I've also done the coat over PJs, but was a bit embarrassed when one of the PJ legs fell down as I was in the butchers - in front of my new neighbour who, as luck would have it, was also buying her provisions for the week. 'Dolcelatte' she said, in front of a shop full of people, in a loud, Home Counties, and faintly shocked tone 'Are you wearing your pyjamas?'

(embarrassed face!)

You can see me however you see me. I have walked to shop in onesie when needed so Im probably the low standards type that mumsnet hates Grin

birdmomma · 19/01/2014 07:26

A good bra, but apart from that any clothes that aren't pyjamas. New Zealand is very forgiving.

MidniteScribbler · 19/01/2014 07:38

I'm pretty sensitive about how I look when I go out. I'm usually pretty well dressed, but the one day I dared to stop at the shops looking a bit sloppy (tracksuit pants, hair in a ponytail and no makeup after a day of dog trialling in the teeming rain!), I came back to school to find parents bitching about how I looked that day. So now I am overly sensitive and won't even go in the front yard without looking neat and tidy.

KeatsiePie · 19/01/2014 07:41

Bra, hair fixed, and not in yoga pants. Also must have already had two cups of coffee.

WeeTeaJenny · 19/01/2014 09:01

Full make up , hair done , nice clothes on
Wouldn't leave the house if not 'done up' even just to shops / garage etc but I have always been like this

PaperBagPrincess · 19/01/2014 09:04

Mascara and eyeliner
Perfume
And if my hair is crap, I feel crap

PaulSmenis · 19/01/2014 10:56

Good, well fitted bra is an essential, before going anywhere.

SilverOldie · 19/01/2014 11:34

Clothes.

TheBigBumTheory · 19/01/2014 11:39

Contacts or specs, hearing aid, two cups of tea and I'd happily answer the door in my dressing gown.

WeeBoobs · 19/01/2014 14:37

Feel weird if I don't have my engagement and wedding ring on. Sometimes I take them off if I need to run products through my hair in the morning and then forget to put them back on.

I feel really sad all day, like I'm betraying my marriage. Blush

Don't really care about makeup (day to day), have shortish hair so don't care about that either as long it's not sticking up madly at the back.

Just need my glasses to see Grin

FuckingWankwings · 19/01/2014 14:42

Mascara and brushed teeth.
