. . . to think the Lord Rennard affair is just the tip of the iceberg?

Lord Rennard has just been cleared of sexually harassing a number of women, although the enquiry did make it clear that his behaviour with the women had fallen somewhat short of that normally expected from an English gentleman.

Leaving Rennard out of it (as I'm rather fond of my house), there does seem to be quite a lot of rich, powerful, podgy men wandering around offices and factories for the sole purpose of pinching bums and ogling boobs and generally acting like colossal tossers from a previous century.

Despite my seeing this sort of thing happening all the time, it rarely makes the headlines and we're constantly being assured that this is very much a thing of past.

But it's not.

It's very much a thing of the present.

So why aren't we hearing more about it?

Because people can behave badly in all manner of ways in the workplace and it's not just the rich, powerful and podgy, or male gender for that matter. Every workshop where there is a girlie calendar on the wall still... every supervisor making a subordinate's life a misery with casual bullying... every petty thief fiddling their expenses. As few of us want to spend time in employment tribunals fighting it out, we get out the small ads and move to a different company instead.
