To complain to the rather frightening and unfriendly neighbours?

I start work at 7am. They have just woken me up, hoovering the laminate floors on the other side of my bedroom wall. It's 11pm.
WIBU to bang on the wall and tell them to pack it in?

They haven't woken DS up - yet (though he's usually up several times a night anyway).
I should also mention that they're rather aggressive and scary. So, while I want my sleep, I don't want to start a big row.

Argh!

Don't bang on the wall. Go and knock and tell them. Bang until they answer the door then ask nicely.

Is it still going on now?

RussianBlu · 16/01/2014 23:19

did the hoovering stop yet? can you start hoovering when you wake up?

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 16/01/2014 23:20

Wait until 5.30am when you and DS are up, and playCeline Dion/Mariah Carey/ZZ Top/Black Sabbath/Pavarotti at full volume Grin

(Ok so this will then escalate into a full on neighbour war, but it will be interesting and fun and give AIBU something to talk about for a while... Wink)

Maybe they dropped a glass or something? We would only be hoovering late/early if there had been a breakage.

Dromedary · 17/01/2014 03:24

I'd let it go - only hoovering and won't last long. Save it for something more serious (eg loud music late at night).

StoorieHoose · 17/01/2014 06:28

Hoovering late a night wouldn't bother me after the antics of my last neighbours - make a note of it but pick your battles

ComposHat · 17/01/2014 06:36

If it is a one off (breakage?) I'd let it slide. If they make it a habit, I'd be asking them to be please be a bit more considerate.

Mind you anyone who puts laminate flooring down where there's a party wall needs their head examining. I once lived in a flat where the owners of the flat above had laminate and them walking about used to keep me awake.

I have a feeling yhat on 20 years time laminate flooring eill be regarded much the same way as woodchip wallpaper is now.
