To warn you about tabs on pull-ups

I've just changed my toddler from nappies to pull-ups as toilet training is well under way.

I bought a multipack box (3 packets), so that's a lot of pull-ups. My toddler has destroyed around a dozen of them in the past couple of days - they have a tape tab at the back (to let you roll up and stick closed the used pull-up), and there is a little stiff bit that sticks up from the tape- DS has noticed this catching on his clothes and pulled it off, which rips the arse out of it making it useless!!

I've tried cutting the tab off, or peeling it off the top layer of sticky tape, but now he knows the tape is there, he tries to pull off the remaining bit... More torn pull-ups and nappy stuffing all over the house.

Bloody Pampers. Do all the brands of pull-up pants have that roll up tab on them? I have wasted £££s on these ones.

That should have been several pound signs not random symbols!

I think they do.

I remember buying the Lidl ones and Tesco ones when DS was young and they also have that tab...

Didn't have the same prob as DS never took any notice of the tabs.

AtALooseEndInPembroke · 15/01/2014 16:39

How shaped are they? Could you put them on him back to front so he cant find the tab at the back?

Its a long time since mine were at pull up stage and I cant remember how shaped they are to know of it would be uncomfortable or not fit for purpose.

ouryve · 15/01/2014 16:42

The night time pull ups don't have the tabs and come in quite small sizes, now. DS2 (who wears the largest size!) can't find a way of pulling them apart, despite immediately popping his finger through the plastic coating of the NHS nappies he gets. Believe me, he's tried!

LittleMissCrankyPants · 15/01/2014 16:43

Tescos own make don't have them.

whereisthewitch · 15/01/2014 16:43

Asda ones don't. ..neither do Sainsbury ones but lidls do.

FruitSaladIsNotPudding · 15/01/2014 16:46

Aldi ones don't have them.

Gileswithachainsaw · 15/01/2014 16:48

Sainsbury don't either

2beornot · 15/01/2014 16:48

We use Huggies and I have never notice any kind of tab on them. I'm pretty sure there's nothing!

RawCoconutMacaroon · 15/01/2014 16:53

Looks like I will be trying another brand once he's destroyed all these ones! Just told me huggies sleep ones don't have it (her Dd only has nighttime ones).

Thanks for the suggestion to turn them back front - they are not very shaped so I will give that a go but I suspect he will soon notice (he's a bit funny about tabs and labels on clothes).

No Huggies don't have them. They seem a bit more of a tighter fit than pampers tho so check for size before stocking up

Pull up tabs - possibly my most boring post ever Grin.

Hope turning them back to front works.

Possibly your most boring post ever, however it is forgiven. :-)

You have more than made up for it in all I have learned in the last few days, from your posts on eating, in the low carb section. (Will be along later tonight to post under a different name, as starting whole 30 tomorrow and will prob need some support/advice/more info)

fryingpantoface · 15/01/2014 18:57

Ds likes to peel off the tab and try and stick himself to the wall... He is odd admittedly!

we put a vest on ds too, one with poppers on it, but he isn't potty training at the moment. Those ones are just easier to change him into as he's a runner when you try and change him

Asda ones dont, as already mentioned. I've noticed they come up big though, ds2 is 4+/5 in all nappies and pampers pull ups, but the size 4 asda ones fell down when he was wearing them Grin

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 15/01/2014 19:17

Can you sell them on facebook or something for cost?

bonzo77 · 15/01/2014 19:17

Boots ones don't have them either.

RawCoconutMacaroon · 15/01/2014 19:32

So far, turning the pull-up back to front has fooled DS, his hand went straight down the back of his trousers to pull the tab off and found nothing!

iamonthepursuitofhappiness · 15/01/2014 19:37

Lidl pull-ups don't have a tab.

MetellaEstMater · 15/01/2014 19:42

Glad this has come up as just bought DD pampers pull ups for the first time and we were wondering what on earth the tab is for. She only wears tem at night now and flatly refuses to put them on unless I tear the tab off!
