Its my daughters 2nd birthday party on saturday. Ive booked a soft play party and have 9 children confirmed as comming. Does this seam ok for a party bag? 2 diffrent sweets, large bouncy ball, bubbles, colouring book, crayons, age appropriate pocket money toy ie frizbie, skipping rope... twirly straw, balloon on a stick and party popper.. they also will get a bit of cake and a fuzzy eds party bag. Does that seam ok?

I dont do them anymore. I got fed up with wasting my money on tat. For my dd1s party in Nov i just bought one of those 'paint your own' wooden toys from wilkinsons and wrapped them in party paper. Only about two pounds each and the kids seemed impressed enough with just that and cake. But they are older, might not work for littlies.
Seems like a lot in yours tbh. Cake, crayons and a colouring book would be enough really. I wouldnt buy anything else now.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood · 14/01/2014 20:15

sounds like alot.
I would edit your list to.
1 Sweet, large bouncy ball, bubbles, colouring book, crayons, a bit of cake.
a skipping rope and frizbee for someone who has not long since learned to walk seems a bit wierd.

mummyzoe2012 · 14/01/2014 20:18

The age range is 23 months to 11 years old

Way too much! For that age, I used to do one of those shiny windmills on a stick, with a giant wrapped marshmallow rope sellotaped to the stick. Piece of cake in other hand. Job done.

troubleinstore · 14/01/2014 20:19

wouldn't do skipping rope with 2 year olds ... but other than that very generous and lovely

500internalerror · 14/01/2014 20:19

X post. Something else for the older ones - posters?

Indith · 14/01/2014 20:20

That seems like loads to me!

Dd's party bags in December (5 years old)- A dinosaur mask, a mini pack of haribo and a piece of cake.

Ds1's party bags this month (7 years old)- Angry birds slingshot pen, angry birds badge, lolly, cake.

I love ebay for party bags.

mummyzoe2012 · 14/01/2014 20:20

Thats what the skipping rope and frizbee are for as they are active childrens

What's the AIBU?? (Hate pretend AIBU threads when all they are in compliment seekers in disguise)

Jackthebodiless · 14/01/2014 20:27

Too much, imo. I'd leave out two or three of the toys.

HyvaPaiva · 14/01/2014 20:28

That's an overwhelming amount - I'd feel kinda awkward receiving that much from someone for simply attending their party.

I think the intention is lovely, OP, so I don't think you're 'unreasonable'. But I do think the amount is staggering! Less is more, perhaps?

Have a lovely party!

Lucylouby · 14/01/2014 20:31

At my kids parties you get a piece of cake and a small bag of sweets. I have normally paid for them to be entertained somewhere like soft play or cinema and don't think kids need any more tat in their possession. Some round here have started giving presents instead of party bags. I hate that. Idea too. Children have been entertained by going to the party. That should be enough IMO.

FuzzyWuzzywasaWoman · 14/01/2014 20:33

Can I be really boring and say be wary of giving little ones bouncy balls, they are a big choking hazard. Although you did say large bouncy ball, so I'm guessing orange size, which would probably be okay????

attheendoftheday · 14/01/2014 20:34

Like everyone else, I think its a bit too much. At 2 we did sticker sheet, bubbles, toy car, mini choc bar and raisins. That seems like a standard amount of things around here.

ATruthUniversallyAcknowledged · 14/01/2014 20:36

Definitely no party poppers if there are little ones going.

DisneyAddict88 · 14/01/2014 20:40

I would also agree too much euther stick to a few fillers or a pocket money toy.

we did
cake pop - big hit and no faffing with squashed cake slices in napkin!
bag of haribo
pencil with a rubber
sticker sheet
balloon
little tube bubbles (10 for £1 in pound shop)
glow stick also £1 shop u get 20 - big hit with all the kids Grin

actually we did quite a bit now I read back!

a good idea for your age range is fake tatttoos - amazon are v cheap for these I got several different packs of 30 for about 40p each Grin

Why are you doing an extra party bag if they'll be getting one already?

Madness!!

HoratiaDrelincourt · 14/01/2014 20:49

Your party bag, venue party bag, book?

That's three things.

Chill. The. Fuck. Out.

pfb?

Oblomov · 14/01/2014 20:49

Seems a lot. And I do FAB party bags!!

Sparklymommy · 14/01/2014 20:51

I would definitely NOT give a party popper. Do you know that to buy them you have to be 16? They are essentially a firework and could be dangerous. Other than that, fine

Ragwort · 14/01/2014 20:53

Far too generous, and two year olds really don't need or expect party bags nor do any children for that matter.

endlesstidying · 14/01/2014 21:47

That sounds very generous OP (though as others say I'd ditch the party poppers fro anyone below about 8). I hope the party goes really well. Have fun

500internalerror · 14/01/2014 23:36

We went to a party a few yrs ago where the take home gift was a cricket set! Wooden bat, ball, stumps, bag, must've been at least a tenner. It was more than we gave the birthday child :(

Wantsunshine · 14/01/2014 23:44

500 you don't know that they didn't get an amazing deal so cost very little. I did this once. Got a toy for a party bag that should have been £18 but paid £1.20 each. Guess people may have thought I went OTT
