To not make dinner for DP?

zizzo · 11/01/2014 18:37

He's been an arse today.

He needs to be getting on with job applications but has spent the whole day playing some strange computer game in the living room that seems to entirely consist of two men swearing at each other.

When I objected, he said "shh, it's nearly over, so just deal with it OK?".

He's not normally so rude Shock

I pointed out he only gets rude and stressed like this when he plays games and he just looked annoyed.

I have spent the whole day organising the kitchen for MIL's party here tomorrow (don't ask) and am shattered.

Would I be unreasonable not to make dinner for DP as I usually do? I just feel like he has been so unhelpful today Angry

You really need to ask?

Eebahgum · 11/01/2014 18:40

Not unreasonable at all but what are you eating? Are you suggesting cooking for just you not him?

zizzo · 11/01/2014 18:40

Ergh. I just hate being passive-aggressive.

On the other hand, he understands things through his stomach. And I feel like a point has to be made here properly.

Yes, I could just have the DC's leftovers...

Do you have DC? If so, why is he playing some sweary game in the day? If not just tell him to get off it!

ChatNicknameUnavailable · 11/01/2014 18:42

If you're making food anyway but just don't cook a portion for him - yabu. I would be extremely hurt if df 'punished' me in this way, regardless of what I'd done/not done that day.

If you're not cooking anyway and would be cooking just for him - of course yanbu. He's a grown up, you don't have to make him a meal!

sebsmummy1 · 11/01/2014 18:43

I would have been RAGING.

zizzo · 11/01/2014 18:43

We make a point of eating together normally as it's the only point in the day we normally have to talk.

I'm just so fed up of him playing the games, I guess, I'm tired of making the effort running round after him when he's wasted a day.

ilovesooty · 11/01/2014 18:44

I'd be pulling him for the "deal with it" comment.

clara26 · 11/01/2014 18:47

My exh used to be really rude if I interrupted him while he was playing on his x box. It went on for years. Nice most of the time, snappy when playing. He'd even let me stand there with his dinner in my hand while he got to a save point. He played all night and all weekend, didn't even get dressed on a weekend.

One day I gave his xbox and all games to a charity shop. Then I divorced him.

Btw, I bought the xbox.

What is he, a large dog?

tinypumpkin · 11/01/2014 18:54

Pmsl at Chipped :)

tinypumpkin · 11/01/2014 18:55

Liking your style Clara :)

Agree about not doing dinner op, I would be livid.

zizzo · 11/01/2014 18:56

Wow, well done clara Grin

He does have an animal mentality at times. When he's around food or computer games, he's got tunnel vision!

Meh. I pulled him up on the rude comment and he's apologised but he's still acting strange and distracted. I've packed him off to MIL's for dinner so she can sort him out! does a much better job than me

WhereYouLeftIt · 11/01/2014 18:58

"Yes, I could just have the DC's leftovers..."
Sounds like a plan Grin. Because of course you are exhausted with all the preparations for MIL's party, you could just flop down on the couch with the leftovers, look shattered and suggest he grabs something out of the fridge.

Gruntfuttock · 11/01/2014 19:03

Why should his mother have to cook his dinner? That seems a bit of an imposition. He's a grown man, surely he's capable of cooking you both a meal, since he's been playing his game all day, while you've been busy. He should tell you to sit down and have a break while he gets on with it.

ilovesooty · 11/01/2014 19:10

If his mother is prepared to indulge his uselessness he'll never be any different.

TalisaMaegyr · 11/01/2014 19:23

I can't believe you've sent him to his Mums for dinner. So now he's going to get fed without having to lift a finger, how is that proving the point you wanted to make??

QuintessentialShadows · 11/01/2014 19:27

So, he has done NOTHING to prepare for HIS MUMS party?

What an arse.

Why have you reproduced with this man?

JoinYourPlayfellows · 11/01/2014 19:29

I can't believe women put up with this kind of crap.

You've been working all day preparing a party for HIS mother while he played games and you think it is making some kind of stand to get his mother to cook for him instead of you? Hmm

prettyhackedoff · 11/01/2014 19:31

He has certainly behaved very unreasonably, and has been very rude.

Bloodyteenagers · 11/01/2014 19:48

So let me get this right.
He has done nothing all day.
He has done nothing around the house all day.
He has been playing computer games all day instead of doing other things.

You have been cleaning for his mums party.
You are now cooking dinner.

He has gone to his mums.

Nice life he has. Two mums to run around after him, while he sits on his arse all day. Why do you enable this crap?

CaptainHindsight · 11/01/2014 20:34

If DH said that to me he would be spending the rest of the afternoon trying to remove the controller from his arse.

BrickorCleat · 11/01/2014 20:40

I want to come back as your OH in my next life but with an Improving Novel rather than sweary electronic game.

I am aghast you have spent the day on a party for his mother.

Are you Bree Van Den Kamp?

harriet247 · 11/01/2014 20:49

What a nobhead. Mine is getting starvation treatment today after acting like a massive twat this morning. He said sorry but im not forgiving him yet. Made myself bacon butty and a creme egg and nothing for him. Whythefuck should I?
