to be fuming with Scottish Power and Energy suppliers generally?

Inspired by Martin thingy the money saving guy I thought I'd try switching as my fixed deal ends this month. Ha ha ha!

They provide NO information - no annual, quarterly, monthly or weekly average consumption figures. I searched 'annual consumption' on their website and it said 'annual consumption is the amount of energy you use in a year.' No. Shit. Sherlock. But where is the effing figure?

Right. Complain I thought. Guess what? there is no complaint option on their bloody email.

Is it just me or does everyone find the process of comparing so difficult? Not the 10 mins Martin thingy promised.

I love Martin thingy. I reckon the energy companies are hating him right now.

I can see all my info online withScottish power.
I just log on to my account and it's all there, I give me meter readings online too.

CheeseAndFriedMushrooms · 10/01/2014 22:36

I have an online account with them too, and can see all my bills etc online, and also submit my meter readings with them online.

bunchoffives · 10/01/2014 22:40

YY to meter readings, bills, fancypants graphs etc etc

But anything you actually need to compare prices of other suppliers? Not so much, in fact nothing - no annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly consumption by Kwh or ££.... unless I've missed something?

Takes me 10 minutes every time I change suppliers. I love Martin Lewis Wink he has saved me a small fortune.
I would blame the suppliers confusing websites!

My account
Balance and consumption
My consumption

You can see it right there (on mine anyway!)

LalyRawr · 10/01/2014 22:44

I switched from Scottish Power and used my annual consumption for the comparison. Was definitely there and very easy to find.

I don't think it took anymore than 10 minutes to switch.

Jbck · 10/01/2014 22:46

Its on all your paper bills from Scottish Power, so even if you are not registered online you can compare if you have your bills.

Jbck · 10/01/2014 22:47

We received a flyer yesterday to tell us they are reducing prices by about 3 or 4 %

bunchoffives · 10/01/2014 22:59

Ok I've checked again on my online account and what I get is figures for the last 9 months in three quarters. Which means I haven't got last winter's figures - the critical one - so any comparison I do will be a based on a gross underestimate. Of course this would make any other supplier look expensive. Deliberate do you think?

I have been with them for well over a year by the way.

Not online so an't help but each bill shows usage and usage for same perid in previous year iirc.

When you get next bill you should be able to compare unless you are paperless. I'd phone and ask.

I found SP particularly unhelpful when I was trying to get relevant information from them - I was trying to compare their alternative plans with EDF and it was like getting blood out of a stone. Whenever I asked the 'adviser' a question I got some fob off scripted answer and had to ask him to answer what I had actually asked.

I gave them a chance, but frankly the EDF plan MSE came up with was better so I needn't have bothered!

Don't know where the stray 'what' came from!
