To be worried?

Prob not strictly aibu but am worried and cannot find "chat".

So, DS2, 19 months, has just had some water go down the wrong way. He coughed a bit, then lied on his side quietly and went to sleep. Very unlike him, especially tonight (had been trying to settle him for about 90 mins prior to the water incident). Is he likely to have been hurt by the water?

Do tell me I am being an idiot. Cannot stop worrying even though he is next to me and seems to be sleeping well.

The chances are his cough tired him out, hence he went to sleep.

The water won't have hurt him - if there was anything 'bad' going on (such as water in his lungs), he'd be awake and coughing continuously, not sleeping peacefully.

If he's otherwise fine in himself (no temperature, you can rouse him even though asleep) nothing to worry about.

How can I rouse him in his sleep? Do I have to wake him up? Having just spent over 90 mins trying to get him to sleep...

Not wake him up...just give him a little shake and check he responds by trying to move away, scrunch his eyes up, roll over, etc. It just shows he's responsive and 'normally' asleep.

I really wouldn't panic op, he sounds fine to me x

Thank you very much for getting me to see sense. After a good prod he moved (must be in deep sleep) and has nice pink lips and nails, so must be fine.
