AIBU?

To think that implantation bleeding is a cruel myth?

It seems designed to first bring hope to those TTC and then dash it!

The minute anyone TTC has an early/late/light period starting, first there's the disappointment of 'damn - I'm out this month', then someone (often said TTCers own brain!) pipes up with "it could be implantation?" and for another 24hrs you live in hope, but it's always AF!!

I searched for IB on MN search over the last year, and not one 'could this be implantation bleeding' thread ended in a BFP.

So WIBU to think it's just an urban myth made up by women who really wanna be pregnant?! (And I count myself in that category btw!)

I had what I think was an implantation bleed with ds2. I have irregular periods so do not know when I am due on and we were ttc, I was due to have my flu jab (6 years ago, when you were told to tell the nurse/doctor if there was a chance you were pregnant as they didn't recommend it in pregnancy unless absolutely needed) and when I went to the toilet there was some blood, assumed my period was starting and so didn't mention the possibility of being pregnant to the nurse. Fast forward one week and I got a positive test! Panicked a bit but spoke to my surgery and was reassured. I did get bleeding in both my other pregnancies but long after implantation had taken place. As has been said, I think it exists but not as frequent as some lead you to believe.

I had cramping and a small implantation bleed (one time during the day) with my first DC and thought it was my period coming early (about 4 days early) but then cramping continued with no more bleeding at all.

No implantation bleed (or cramping) with DC2.

DC3 I had cramping and the smallest implantation bleed (I would have missed it if I hadn't been looking for it-the tiniest amount of blood when I wiped). Again a few days before period due as remember testing early and got a BFP.

Hope that helps and good luck if you are TTC.

Implantation bleeding here with 2 bfp's that ended in mc. Ds ( my sticky bean) no implantation bleeding! So if I had it again I would dread the outcome - not tat I believe I'll be lucky enough to conceive again Sad

Why don't you just take a test?

I had it but the pregnancy didn't stick. It wasn't a real bleed, it was a tiny smear on the loo roll. Couldn't have been mistaken for a period.

Princessjelly if you bled for 5 days probably not pregnant. Take a test to put your mind at rest.

I didn't get the "pre AF" implantation bleed.

However, I had 2 episodes of light bleeding (old blood) at 7 & 10 weeks pregnant and was told it was due to implantation.

I bled really heavily about three times in the first 3 months. Absolutely terrified I was going to miscarry. DS1 is now 18!

I had one too, mine was an IVF preg and I bled before I'd even tested. Then at my early scan they saw a pool of blood beneath the sac. I started bleeding again the next day and it continued on and off for 10 weeks.

I had implantation bleeds with both of mine. Scary.

I'm not sure about implantation bleeding, but I had bleeds for the first 3 months when my period would have been due with both my dc. I think my hormones weren't quite high enough or something, but luckily none of the bleeds dislodged the babies... Anyway, it looked exactly like a light period the first time, and got lighter each month until 4th month it had stopped. Not sure if that helps...
Also had bleeding at same times with mc between the two dc...
Good luck, it's such a horrible time...been there...

I had implantation bleeding in my last pregnancy. Twice, in fact, the second time two days after the first. Turned out to be my identical twins.

With DC 2 I had implantation bleeding. I thought it was AF as I had a crampy buildup. It only lasted 2 days and was ( sorry tmi) brownish old blood. I didn't actually test until the following month, and only then did I wonder if it was infact an implantation bleed. The dates confirmed this.

I had what I think was an implantation bleed with DD (my second child). I thought I was getting my period, but then when it failed to materialise I got a BFP a few days later, IIRC.

I had it too, with my second. It does exist! Read lots of threads, planned for the worst and can totally see why you'd think the same.
Problem is, I think, it's rare that people do go back and update when things go right, I'd be guilty too if I wasn't such a lurker!

I was under the impression only about 30% of women have implantation bleeds

It's not a myth.

Had no bleeding with my first but with my second I bled every morning for 3 days before finally sussing out that it wasn't my period.

MrsMook · 05/09/2014 21:57

I had it second time, very subtle, just a pink streak and easily missed. I don't know if I didn't or missed one first time.

SomethingOnce · 05/09/2014 22:05

I had implantation bleeding with DC1, but as another poster said it was very, very slight.

I had it with this pregnancy. Already had BFP, so was a horrible few days fearing the worst!

I had implantation bleeding , I thought it was my period. It was pink then brown lasted a day then stopped. Two days later I got my bfp.

Report
Newbeee · 05/09/2014 23:17

I had one. Had never heard of it so thought it was my period, and stressed myself out by deciding that it was so light that it showed my periods were irregular, therefore I probably wasn't ovulating every cycle and that conception would be difficult if not impossible. And all the while I was actually pregnant. What a numpty.
